I assume that our forum administrators would grant permission to use the jeeppatriot.com logo, but could one of them please verify that?
I'll wait on that permission before I distribute the card.

Wade: If the text in your document is editable, PatriotPierre might like a copy of it, so he can translate the text into French.
Unfortunately, it is not, but if he will provide the translation, I'd be happy to re-edit the graphic file and replace the English version with the French. Once done, I'd send him the file so he can use it, provided of course that we get permission to use the JeepPatriot.com graphic.

BTW, and this is to anyone who uses whatever format they choose, be sure to scribble your name, moniker, handle, alias, etc., on it so the newbie can tell us who referred them to the forum.

And to get the legal stuff out of the way, if you want to use the image of my Patriot on the background on my card, you may do so with my blessing....

Wade, did your pic on the last post ever come through? I am getting a little red X instead of your photo. (I'd love to see what ya did!)
Pretty sure it came through... Sending you a PM with the link again...

That's a great poster/logo! Nice work.

looks great
my only comment is that the font for the text is a bit ordinary.

great work

If you want the text editable, I can make it editable, I have OCR software here at work that can do this.

;)I'd love the text to be edible, but... well... Do you think I could have it in chocolate?;)

Would this be like eating our words?

:D:D:D
Lol, see now you just look crazy, since I fixed my spelling mistake

Really sounds like a thirty second automatic translation including mistakes!!! It is also incomplete. (you should have checked or maybe you can't tell). A language and therefore a translation is not only a serie of words : it's a culture, a way of saying things. You should have more respect for languages and the way each of them have to convey meaning. No machine can come up with a proper translation without a native of the target language to verify final form. Translation is definitely not your domain!

The following translation is more in the french spirit, doesn't have mistakes and is complete. But of course it took more than thirty seconds :pepper:

Had some time to kill at work so I thought I'd submit one. I got the original Pat image off a wallpaper website (higher rez). Its from the original 2007 release pictures. There doesn't seem to be any posted terms of use for the image. However this should be irrelevant because the design is now a completely new image. I've included small samples of both images for people to compare.

The different landscape images I used were from our stock photography library here at work, so there are no copyright issues there.

I added a couple effects to the logo, however the designer will still have to give his/her "OK" to use it.

A quick note - I have the Patriot's color as a selection so it can be changed to any color people want.

Here are a couple of business-card size promo cards, in English and French. The photo is mine, so no copyright problem there. I assume we can use the logo, although our site administrators have not responded.

I have an email granting us permission by DMAG, our site administrator, to use the JeepPatriot.com logo for the purpose of using it in our posters and/or business cards promoting the JeepPatriot.com forum.

Do you know this translation from English to French? "Calm down!" First of all I was not insulting "your" language, I was simply trying to help. Second of all, as far as the posts go, prior to me there had not been a translation posted in this thread. Second, I simply took the time to go online and find a translating program. I copied and pasted what it gave me and posted it here. Lastly, this is a community that supports input from all its users. Do not assume one is disrespecting you, your language or yourself based upon his/her input on this forum, especially not because of a translation.

I do respect your language, culture and your unfair comments like, "You should have more respect for languages and the way each of them have to convey meaning", but how am I supposed to feel after being insulted when no harm was intended? One can argue the fact that I was simply trying to help, while other conservative people...such as yourself....lack the skills for self control and self-evaluation and jump up and yell, "Objection" at the stir of the moment.

To conclude, I have found it hard to keep my self control while typing this. Although it may be deemed contradicting, I must stress the following:

Listen up Pierre as I will say this only once, "Have a great day !"

I do appreciate you trying to help, but my mother tongue has been bashed around too many times. I too had found it hard to keep my self control reading your translation. I will never accept such translations. OK no harm was intended, but how could you trust an electronic program to give a proper result of such a complex task.

If you only knew how many stupidities, I have read in owner's manuals or product instructions tranlated for french speaking Canadians by improvised «translators», you wouldn't believe it. Now I read the english version to be sure I get the correct information. Please undestand my frustration.

And as you say, I hope this «finishes the fight». As for censored words, I don't have any for you.

:):)Okay, guys, be nice. We're all on the same side here. I remember years ago, dying of laughter reading the English translations of Japanese manuals for pro cameras. "Insert leader of quality film into retaining device of spool at exit end of camera. Be sure sensitive emulsion side of film is forward to facing taking lens, or no results will appear.":):)

I accept your peace treaty. I can understand your frustration as I am bilingual in Spanish. It (Spanish) at times... can be twisted, mended and taken out of context when translated into or out from.
As far as my censored words, well there is no need for me to explain what they were, but take this as an apology from me. I will be modifying my entry and having that portion deleted.

I swear they did an online hug... ;)

If anyone wants or needs a copy of the email DMAG sent me granting permission to use the JeepPatriot.com logo, just PM me and I'll forward the message...
