Possible you sat in a b Class?

Your right the interior looks somewhat similar:

But there are some thing wich looks better in the B class . check Airvents for example

Hi AGOG,
sorry for the late answer but you are right. There is something that makes the Patriot different from the rest. Must be the design - the brand - driving something different or all together.

Hi Ash,
can´t wait for your report :)
Thanks Rends, currently I drive a Renaultsport Megane 225 Cup which I am sure you have in Germany too. But the time has come for something much more practical for my wife and baby to travel in. It's going to be a completely different driving experience and I am worrying that I might not like it, but I have to remember that I shouldn't compare it to what I have.

I've already managed to save a good couple of thousand ££££'s on the price before I've even driven it. A lot rests on my experiences tomorrow :) As you have mentioned in some of your posts that the competition is either far too expensive for what they are or just look rubbish.

I've always wanted a 4x4 in Black and having a 'Jeep' would be the icing on the cake. I know it will be a lot slower but apparently the engine is a very reliable VW CRD and will be much more fuel efficient.

As soon as I get home from the test drive I will let you know.

Donnerwetter noch mal. :icon_rolleyes:

Rends it's a really nice drive!!!! I was very surprised at how it handled our rubbish rods over here but it was very comfortable. The one I drove was a Sport in Black Clear Coat and I am not sure that the black is such a good colour for it. They also had the privacy glass on it and it seemed like too much black.

The driving position was really good and I was surprised how comfortable it felt to drive. The performance was good too, and even though I wasn't speeding I felt that the ride was more enjoyable at a lower speed.

The plastic interior didn't put me off at all which I was quite surprised at. There also seemed to be a lot of space for the rear passengers, overall it was better than I had hoped.

I would have placed my order there and then but my wife is concerned that the boot was a bit smaller than we expected. So we are going back tomorrow with the pram to see how well it fits in and how much space is used up.

Ash, that´s great to hear!
Did you drive the CRD one? If so how was engine noise? Guess if it was disturbing you would have mentioned it.
I realy would like to testdrive the Patriot too but the one at the Dealer is still in the Showroom and they don´t have a second one for testdrives yet.

Yes it was the CRD and I didn't mind the engine noise much at all. It's a diesel after all and if anything it made the Patriot sound powerful, I was expecting a lot worse.

Nice,
can´t wait to testdrive the Patriot soon (hopefully).
did you have a chance to check your milage?

Rends

the mileage of the crd - first 5000k will struggle to get under 7l per 100k

after that will start creep towards 6l per 100k

they rate them at 6.7l per 100k which i have struggled to get but not much more just over 7l per 100k
hope this helps

Rends thought I would let you know that I have put a deposit down on a brand new Bright Silver 2.0 CRD Limited with the Audio Pack. Hopefully I will have it in about a week or so :)

Congratulation Ash!
I already thought that you was going to get one.
How come that you can get one that fast? I thought it would take somewhat longer before you can get a preordered one.
What interior color did you choose? Black or beige?

Over here they keep some pre built but not registered, however to get one without the sunroof I may have to wait longer. The interior is leather and you don't get a choice over here, I think it is dark and light slate grey as the standard.

I managed to get about 12% discount as I was part exchanging my existing car. I suspect I could have got more discount if I was doing either a finance package or cash only.

I am really surprised it's more

I would have thought the Patriot to be less considering the low value of the dollar against the Euro. Given the current exchange rate at 1.48 an average limited at $25,000 should have been about 17,000 in Euros (Sorry, US keyboard. No Euro sign). Granted it's probably more for the CRD and extra shipping, but still..... At that price given the exchange rate the car would cost $58k. There has got to be some pretty large import fees and surcharges on that.

Also, besides the heated mirrors I don't believe we get an RDS option on the radio here. The bumper isn't that bad either. It might be the color though. Darker colors can sometimes downplay features.

The one thing I forgot to ask the dealer is whether you can turn off the front passenger airbag. In the UK this is important if you intend to use a rear facing childseat in the front.

Does anyone know the answer?

Rends what about taking a spring holiday in the US or Canada and purchasing either new or maybe even slightly used Pat over here and just ship it to Hamburg ?Would you save much $$$$?

With US Dollar that low this is a question often asked on german boards now.
I havn´t made the math yet but i´m pretty sure this would be an option .

Get a nice 2 Week US trip plus Pat (including shipping, Tax and make it legal) for the same price you have to purchase a single Pat here :)
But the downside is that you loose every waranty.

The best would be if you are in service and stationed in the US.
My Cousin for example is in the german Army. Funny to mention that he is in one of the Patriot units (you know this AA thingy) and was in service at El Paso/Texas for about one year.
He went for a Grand Cherokee and brought it home to germany.
Overall he saved more than 25000 Euros! And he didn´t needed to pay tax because he owned the GC for more than a half year before he shipped it to Germany.

Well there is another option you have here in Germany.
Getting a EU import model. This mean getting a Jeep that was meant to be sold in a different EU country than Germany but then brought to Germany to be sold here. Some EU contries have luxury tax which didn´t need to be payed if the car was sold outside this country. Every brand in those country keep their own prizes low to get their cars sold.
This mean that once the cars are moved to Germany that you need to pay 20-30 percent less than you have to pay here at a special Jeep Dealer.
And you still have the 2 years warranty because it´s EU wide.
Just found lot´s of EU import Jeep Compass limited for about 20000€ . Means 10000 less than original price but couldn´t found the Patriot yet.

Personally I wouldn't get one imported from the UK, my 2.0 CRD Limited with metallic paint and the audio pack has cost me the equivalent of;

24656 Euros or 36248 USD

That's a scary amount to pay for a car

Well that´s 5000 less we have to pay here, but the biggest problem with UK cars here is that you have the steering wheel on the wrong side ;)

Normaly EU imports are from Netherlands,Spain or Denmark
