I'm not a big fan of the white lettering either. I dropped the Patriot off to have the wheels put on and forgot to specify I wanted the black sidewall to the outside. They are 17x8 American Racing Black Assault wheels with 235/65 17 Good Year Wrangler HP tires.

Here are the pics I promised. I originally had the stock 16" steel wheels which I believe have a 40mm offset and are 6.5" wide. The Assault wheels have a 25 mm offset and are 8" wide. I have included some pics below and if you can't tell the edge of the tire comes to the very edge of the wheel well.

Nice, thanks for the shots, the tire stretch isn't nearly as bad as I thought it'd be.

What made you decide against 255/60's? Was there potential rubbing issues under heavy turning?

Thats my only concern, I'm not worried about the tires extending past the wheel well.

With the 255/60 there is a very good chance that the tire will rub because of the width. If you look at some of the other threads on the site other's have tried and figured out that 235/65 is about as big as you can go on a 17 inch wheel with no modifications.

Ya I was part of the discussion on the other threads.
I think I will risk trying a 255/60 I found a tire thats treadwidth is only slightly over 10" so I'm optimistic it will work...otherwise heat gun time!

I will let you know in a few months how it goes.

Super nice look. I just got my black Patriot (2.0) and will go with a very similar look.

However I'm considering another AR rim Fuel 16x8 12mm offset. I want the rims to stick out a little more. I'd also like a bit of beefer tire look. I don't want to have to lift the truck (though I does look nice lifted).

I wonder how wide and big I can on the rim I want?

Does anybody know what 16x8 12mm offset translates to in backspacing?

Any chance 255/60/r16 will fit? I'm will to cut and melt plastic, but not sure I'd lift the truck.

I currently have some 275/60r15 on an s10 blazers stock 7.5 wide rims and I love that fat bulging look.

Thanks for the post/pics it's helped me decide I dont want to lift.
