So, question about using Gt mat/dynamat/Boomat stuff...

I am planning on doing my spare tire well, and possibly some right behind my speakers as well. I was curious if it would be good to line the underside of my rugged ridge mats with the stuff too, or if that would really add any benefit.

In my mind, it wouldnt matter if its under the carpet or just adhered to the underside of the mat, as long as it is between me and the road it would help, right?

Wasn't sure if anyone has ever used this technique or if for some reason its a terrible idea. Im not really in the mood to pull up the carpet.

How easy are the door panels to remove? I was just going to shove some small pieces right behind the speakers and leave it at that, but I think removing the whole panel and going to town on them would help with any current (and future) rattling/squeaks.

any thoughts on this would appreciated! thanks guys

I don't think doing the mats would pan out or last.

Door panels are simple enough, just go slow, remove all screws first and use a proper panel removal tool. But, and I have the panel tolls and have been all over my Patriot doing my FF thing....here is what I did when it was time for doors.

1) buy a 24 case of beer.
2) place in back area of Patriot.
3) drive to the autobody place I use
4) park out back, walk in and mention that the Pat parked over there needs all four door panels AND the case of beer removed.
5) go for lunch
6) drive home, do your thing and replace panels at home...a far less terrifying prospect than the removal.

lol excellent plan

Well thought out! Here's a photo of my spare tire well before I finished the job. I'll have to take a new photo soon.

I have added more little pieces and over lapped certain areas for more coverage. I'm pretty sure it's made a good difference. I love how quiet my Jeep is compared to my old convertible.

As far as the doors go, I have only done whatever I can reach through the speaker holes on all four doors.

Once I get around to taking more interior panels off I will install more of the GT Mat I have laying around.
