We took the Patriot out into the Mt Hood National Forest here in Oregon on state road 45 to be exact. I wanted to see how far up the road we could get before we had to turn back. Once we hit the snowline it got deep really quick and we had to turn back once the air dam was more of a snowplow. The Patriot did really good though. I had a set of chains but the studded tires were enough. We met up with a couple of Wranglers who offered to help us turn around. I declined and backed out till I could turn around in a clearing. Bet they didn't think a Patriot could do so well. The only thing I wished for besides more ground clearance was a low range. When I got bogged down the Patriot would stall out unless I gave it lots of rpms. I could also smell the clutch getting a bit hot. It did ok though and once it got moving the 4wd just slowly built up speed as it modulated the brakes with the ESP. I never tried shutting the ESP off in retrospect. The wife loved the snow so we will be going up again.
