Why is my patriot reving at 3000 rpm's at cruising speed? Help me out here.
Hey pump....Im moments away from leaving work...quickly..how fast on the highway do you have to go in order to see 3k rpm? Ill let you know how i make out when i get home2.4 liters, cvt freedom II trail rated....it's like i'm missin an overdrive....any software up-date for this....3000RPM's...unbeleivable.
its close 68MPH right in that range I was talking about. Unfortantly CVTs don't have and "overdrive" and I have not seen a software update to compinsate for this, I wish there was. As much as I like the smooth ride in the CVT, I think the Patriot would be much better if mated to a regular tranny110kms/hr...in miles i don't know!!!!!
Ok,,,just went along the 407 from Erin Mills Prkwy and got off at the 404.110kms/hr...in miles i don't know!!!!!
You do not have the same transmission he does so the results are not comparitive.Ok,,,just went along the 407 from Erin Mills Prkwy and got off at the 404.
Hate to say it, but @ 110 kph, I maxed out @ 2300 rpms..averaged about 2100.
Get yourself into the dealer and ask them to fix this, before you bring on any threat of mechanical damage. Not to mention your gasoline bill.
Okee dokey...thanksYou do not have the same transmission he does so the results are not comparitive.
CJ has the same tranny and his experiences are the same as the OP.
Well, that's the reason it revs so high at that speed. The Trail Rated Patriots have a higher final drive ratio than the non-Trail Rated ones.2.4 liters, cvt freedom II trail rated....it's like i'm missin an overdrive....any software up-date for this....3000RPM's...unbeleivable.

There have been quite a few posts by Trail Rated owners who have been complaining about how loud the Patriot is at highway speeds (110km/h is around 3000rpm for them), so it is the different gear ratio. That's what I've heard so I dunno...if the trail rated had a higher final drive ratio, it would turn lower
rpms at hiway speeds. I think that the CVT2L is geared lower for
more torque resulting in higher rpms and lower gas mileage.
