jeepnster--hows that key workin for you?Are you sure you bought the 47mm?

I ordered one of these and was excited when I finally got it. However, I took it down to my local ACE hardware store to get it cut and because of the way the blade comes out of the plastic housing they were only able to actually cut one side of the key with their old machine. After several others attempts at other places to cut the other side, the key is pretty much ruined. My loss of $12. So moral of the story go to a place where they have a machine that inserts the entire key into the cutting machine (think ignition). And avoid the old places with the machines that do one side at a time (think bench grinder style).

It's been almost 2 weeks with my new flip key and I love it-works great. As sphardrocker said make sure when you get it cut they are able to cut both sides. I took mine to a locksmith who did it no problem!!

Yes! My experience as well! ACE & TruValue and perhaps a myriad of small hardware stores do NOT have the expertise to cut many auto keys, with the exception of Ford and GM. Don't EVER take a foreign key to them--it'll look good, but won't work!

However, I took my $13 Jeep blank to a professional--they charged over $30 to cut it--and warned me that the programming wouldn't work. They did cut the key correctly, and I programmed it in front of them and they were amazed--their manuals weren't nearly as simple as ours....

I can´t imagine their face when you did it in front of them.:wow:

I love the flip key. I actually carried both the normal and flip around for a while because I was nervous it wouldnt work, but it appears sturdy and has worked well. I like having the solid block in my pocket versus the key. However, I might try to replace the small screws because on the one I purchased they are close to stripping and I am uncertain on how often the battery will need to be changed.

I just remeasured the key (now cut) and it is about 46 millimeters long. The link that bcom posted is the link to the four button I purchased.

sphardrocker - try Home Depot. They cut mine for free, although it is not as smooth as the regular key, it works well enough.

I just ordered my key from the amazon link Jeepnster provided.I called a larger Jeep dealership about 20 miles from me and they said they would cut the new flip key for FREE for me when i get it!!! Heck yeah!!! I think the parts guy just wants to see the flip key in person :)

Well, they was "good ol' boys" from the valley, so it was hard to tell....
