Im thinking about getting the hood deflector too...

I'd say the bug deflector works but you still get bugs on the windshield just less of them.

^ I'd take TJN's review since it could be many months before I have one as I rarely take my Jeep on the highway up to speeds that would actually accumulate bugs. I got the thing purely for aesthetics. :D
Good to know thank's guys. I'm still wishy-washy then on whether or not I wanna get one. I'll talk to my Dad and see if it'd be a good investment cause he's always bought them for every truck he's owned for the last 10 years or so.

I had exterior stick-on vent visors. Nice quality 3M adhesive and they lasted several years. However, once they finally came unglued, they took the paint off with them. Where it had not, the paint was darker than the rest of the paint that had faded over the years.
So, then it became a lifetime commitment. Stick on's forever to conceal the damage below.
In channel is all I and my father use now. No more worries of damage or fade differences.
Either look fine to me though.

Exactly why I dont like stick ons.

That's a good point, longevity! but I don't see myself keeping my pat for more than 5-6 years before replacing it. Also, they look good so putting new ones in after a certain number of years would still be a good idea IMO. And the price $50! so even if they last 5 years is only $10/year.

I have the AVS in channel type and when I was installing the back window ones I noticed that one tab-the one towards the back of the car, had 3m tape on the inside. This meant sticking it on to the window frame rather than in the channel. Yet I've noticed some peoples install of the AVS where both tabs are in the channel. So which one is it?

I am not clear what you meant, but if you look at pictures on this thread you can see the difference between the two options. I am pretty sure that the in-channel ones don't cover the second section of the rear windows, the stick on ones do.

Blackberrypat,

I am aware that the in-channel type doesn't cover the extra bit of window at the back. What I'm referring to is when installing that back in-channel visor only one tab actually goes into the channel (left side) while the other tab (right side) sticks to the outside onto the window frame and not into the channel. I have seen this mentioned in another post but I have seen the AVS in channel in some members photo and it seems both tabs are in the channels.

Can someone with AVS in-channel type confirm how theirs are installed?

Oh, I see what you mean now. I am not familiar with the in-channel ones, I know installation is more "involved". It looks like Nick77 (above pics of his pat) has the in-channel ones, so he or someone else who has them could give you some helpful input.

cheap no-name ebay window visors

These one suck..they are not well shaped..good material but as you can see from the picture it is not shaped good at all. I set it from the top of the door on front and back but the back ones are higher up. I tried leveling it but then it would look ugly as it would show the white at the top of the back door.

So my advice is DO NOT BUY this window visors from yesbuyautoaccessories. I will just use this for the time being and then when winter is over, get an in-channel visor.

In total I spent $43 ($30 + $8 + $5) for the item and shipping and AtTheBorder storage fee. The AVS one at the time when I bought these would have been $20 more, now they have gone down in price...

do you think our white 2012 Patriot would look weird with the AVS tape-on window vents? the ones I have right now are no brand ones and they are badly shaped but the good thing is they cover most of the top door and gives it a seamless look. Any other color other than white would blend in the smoke color. But they in-channel especially where I live I think would freeze to the windows. It was -25 (Celsius) here this week!!

So far I like the look of the AVS in channel type. Seems to stick out a little less. Priced right and made in America! Might get them eventually. I'll be sure to post photos when the time comes.
