It's amazing what the right lighting and angle reveals. All of those pictures I took standing close too the Jeep don't do it justice. Guess I better get a telephoto lens... :D

I know you don't have the RRO lift but do you have the STU legit suspension lift?

I'm trying to fathom a way to get a complete legit suspension lift of more than 2" as opposed to just buying the RRO lift which is basically just spacers you know?

It may be weird but I'm wanting to figure this out...like taller shocks and coils then new LCA's from another Jeep if possible along with all other components like longer axle shafts with our independent suspensions.

It'd be a lot of work and would probably cost more money but IMO would be worth it in the end to have more suspension travel and flexibility as opposed to just spacers to make it taller.

I have the STU coils installed. The kit only has coils, that's it. With the coils, the shocks are riding at a higher height than stock, so there is less travel and the shocks tend to drop out a bit more. With the RRO lift, while it does use spacers, the spacers go in between the struts and the Jeep, so it is a suspension lift. RRO kits come with parts to move the front sway bar, camber bolts, plus rear upper control arms. The RRO will lift your Jeep just a hair over two inches from what it is at now. With the RRO lift, you are still using the same coils and struts, just moving it down 2 inches, so you will have the same ride you had before, which in the FDII isn't bad

Because I have the FDII, and I heard heckler's story about RRO's over extending his CV's (over time ruining his half shafts), I decided I wanted a milder lift. Since my main concern was with the soft rear suspension, STU's were the perfect choice. The front only went up a half inch while the rear went up over an inch.

On older 4x4's and all 4x2's, Stu's and RRO's lift about the same amount, right around 2 inches. On FDII's and 2011+ 4x4's, STU's will add about an inch while the RRO will still add 2 inches

Good to know. I'd still rather have a lift with taller coils (like the STU's), new taller shocks, and longer components all around to keep the originals from breaking and what not (ie, cv axles).

Idk it'd be a ton of research and I'd probably be chatty with the RRO people with their original findings cause i'm sure they tried more stuff than what they sell now if that makes sense. I think it's be awesome to have a legit all new suspension lift...coils, shocks, LCA's, UCA's, longer cv axles (or whatever the correct terminology is), etc etc etc. a legit lift!

Though I know this would cost a butt load of money and time spent in research and finding parts to fit :(

Well I posted a picture of where I took my Jeep this weekend in the "What have you done today" thread, but I am getting more pictures uploaded so I'll post them here. This was our trip to the "mountains" of southeastern Oklahoma. Most of the pictures were taken about 1500 feet above the base of the valley. These are from my cell phone, but you get the idea:

Just came across these beautiful photo's MrJeepR44! thanks for taking some time to share them with us, as soon as I saw the first couple pictures I immediately thought of Oklahoma. I really like the ouachita region, It's as hilly as it gets around here:) I have some nice photos from the ouichita lake in Arkansas.

Longer travel shocks would be nice on the the STU's for sure. I haven't seen very many strut options for the Patriot though, so you'd have to find some one that could make custom struts that offer longer travel. You'd have to make sure they don't allow to much travel though, because the struts are the limiting factor in how far the axle moves away from the Jeep. If they are too long, the first time you get into a heavy articulation spot I'd be concerned with breaking a CV

And thanks 'kreepin! The Ouachita's are a great place to be, and its good to know you head out there every now and then too! I saw a few Patriots and Compass's when I was out there. At the place we camped with the trailer, we saw a couple pull up in a new Compass! I didn't really talk to them though...

I just ordered a set of these, so I guess we'll see how they do. They were really hard to find, and Philips website isn't very helpful. I don't know if they are just relabeled X-treme Power bulbs, or it is in fact a new bulb (X-treme Power is no longer listed on Philips website, but that is about the only thing I could find to buy)

I bought my original set at Parts Quest for $60 in 2010. In November I ordered a different set for wife's car on Amazon for $28. I'm not sure why there is such a price drop in two years but I'm not complaining.

The set you've ordered looks like a new model. My Xtreme Power said 80% more light output as this one says 100%. Definitely will be waiting for some feedback as I fear I'll have to replace mine any day now.

Honestly I am guessing they are the exact same, just different marketing. Hopefully they are better though, because I like to see something like that continue to improve

I like Phillips bulbs. You should be happy with those. I started using the upgrade over stock type Phillips bulbs when I couldn't get PIAA's in the ones I wanted( white - hate blue ). I use the VisionPlus ones which are a step down from those and they have been a HUGE improvement over any stock bulbs I replaced. The Phillips are 1/4 the cost of the PIAA's so I haven't gone back.

One note - keep an eye on your headlamp assemblies. I have read of those Xtremes getting hot and melting stuff on some models.

I wish I had gone with the Phillips VisionPlus bulbs again instead of these Silverstars that suck. I got the Ultra's as I had a coupon for PepBoys. Wasn't worth it. They are better than stock but not much. Paid a lot more for them than the Phillips that I know would be brighter.

I've used PIAA's before and was very impressed, but yeah the cost is keeping me away. I really have high hopes for these Phillips bulbs. Hopefully they don't melt the housing when running top long... I have DRL's, so they will be on all the time. The Jeep does have some massive headlight lenses (harder to heat that much area, lens is further from bulb, I think), so I am thinking the Patriot is a good option for hot bulbs

Well these things made it to a Post Office near the airport. With any luck I'll be testing them out this weekend! Has the USPS stopped delivering on Saturday already?

I didn't hear anything about that? And WTH are you talking about? What made it to the post office near the airport? Your fog's? Lol

My Phillips Xtreme Vision bulbs made it to the airport from DHL. The USPS is cutting Saturdays to save $2 billion
