what kind of exhaust do you have? I'M getting something soon, leaning towards flowmaster...what have you heard that you like?
2.25 Offset In/2.25 Offset OutWhat is the off set and the diameter of the in and out on the muffler? I am thinking of doing the same thing. Thanks

It will all depend on your feelings of a 4 cyl with a performance muffler in general terms. To me they ALL sound horrid. Sound like a blender on roids and are obnoxious.hope it sounds good.

so you have heard a 60 series flowmaster on a patriot?
4cyl's to me should never use a loud exhaust. Just sounds like crap. Loud, performance style, mufflers to me belong on 8 cyl's and a few 6 cyls( most of those sound crappy too IMO ). Also, be prepared to be grouped in with the "Ricer" crowd as you will have the
since you know so much about exhaust on a pat I'M assuming you know the 60 series is really quiet right? so the reference to a "load exhaust" is irrelevent in my case.
What I did was make a diligent search all patriot exhaust's and determined what one's I liked.......but no one has the one I want, the one that's designed for the patriot so...If I were you I would make a diligent search of the internet and places like YouTube and look for Patriot exhaust videos to make sure you like it before hand. Keep in mind as well that videos of exhaust sound never really do them justice the way hearing them in person does. It would be a big waste to have it done and then not like it.
your right, It wont do much for me performance wise and there are no intake's for it! but to get back to your question as to why I will be getting new exhaust...the answer lies in the question. I want new exhaust! I'm looking for a little subtle deep tone with a tremendous difference in the look, thats about it. who do you think really likes the stock muffler back there?Btw - why are you doing this upgrade? Is it for the sound alone or do you believe this will net you some really noticeable performance and/or MPG gains? If it is for anything but the sound save your money. You won't see a big HP or MPG gain if you see any at all. On modern computer controlled vehicles just adding a performance exhaust does nothing like it used to back in the day. For them to really make a difference you need to also add a CAI and a performance tuner. I don't believe there are any CAI's out there for the Patriot( Maybe but not many )but definitely no tuners.
No offense taken sir! thanks for your reply and your ideas! I have researched this for a few months now...hence the questions I have been asking people.NONE of this is meant to be offensive or an attack on anyone. If you like what a 4cyl sounds like with a performance exhaust it is your vehicle so go for it. The fact you are concerned about how it will sound tells me you need to do more research 1st.
once again the 60 series is quiet and designed for a 4cylinder. I am also a muscle car guy but thats irrelevent in this post.If I were going to do any kind of exhaust upgrade I would look for an OEM style dual outlet from another small SUV/CUV that would remain quiet. Just can't stomach the sound of 4cyl's with loud exhaust. I am a muscle car guy at heart though so it makes me biased.
I have always used flowmaster on everything, have never had a problem with them rotting. I probably never had a problem with them rotting is because they are steel mufflers. I have never heard of anyone having this problem but I guess there is always a 1 and a million chance, good thing all their products are warrantied! thanks for your time NHPATRIOT!Just a side note. I would look at other brands besides Flowmaster. Flowmaster mufflers are not the greatest quality. They rot out from the inside really quickly. They sort of remind me of Goodyear tires. Big well known name brand but crap for products. I would steer you towards Magnaflow or Borla. Avoid Bassani and the like that are designed for the Ricer crowd as those mufflers WILL have the classic fart can obnoxious sound.
Ah well, I see you have taken offense( by the tone of some of your comments )even when you say non taken. Only further comment I will make in this thread about mufflers, so it doesn't go south( was never my intent ), is Flowmaster's rotting out is not a 1 in a million thing. It is extremely common. However, seeing as you live in TX maybe not as much as I see up here. Road salt eats them away from the outside and then all that condensation from cold morning starts gets them from the inside. You can get a SS one and protect against the road salt but even the SS one's interior fail up. Have seen it many times here where a Flowmaster goes 3-4 years tops and then fails due to rot. Magnaflow, Borla, Corsa, and even Gibson last much longer for simialr $$$. With all of that said visit just about any full size GM, Dodge, or Ford truck site as an example and you will read plenty about Flowmaster's rotting away/out faster than the other brands from people other than me.
Best of luck and I hope you are happy with whatever you do.
PS - how will adding a flowmaster muffler make a tremendous difference on the appearance??? You have a 2011 like I do and the muffler is basically hidden. You can see it a little but not much? Seriously just asking out of pure curiosity what will be such a big difference in appearance as I must be missing something.
to answer your question ...how would changing an exhaust entirely change it tremendously? well it would be completely changed that's more than tremendously were talking COMPLETELY changed 100% different size, shape, color, the tip wont be the same the pipes won't be the same the muffler won't be the same! what would stop it from being different if it is in fact different? Also what does the year have to do with the factory muffler? who cares that it is a 2011 It's right in plain sight, oh yeah they painted them in 2011 I forgot, they are still in plain sight on every last patriot I have seen.PS - how will adding a flowmaster muffler make a tremendous difference on the appearance??? Dude chill! Damn. :icon_rolleyes: I simply made a few comments on your post initially as it didn't seem like you really had heard anything and to me it seemed like you had no idea what you really wanted. . You could have simply ignored what I posted. No need for the lecture I got. LOts of it seemed really sarcastic which is what seemed to me to imply you had taken offense despite saying you hadn't. If I was wrong I apologize. Just how it seemed.since I responded to all of your questions, but didn't get any direct answers back can I at least ask you some more...until one can be answered? what makes you think I took offense? was it the questions I asked that you couldn't answer? was it when I said "No offense taken sir! thanks for your reply and your ideas"? If you knew me at all, you would Know I wasn't offended. the only thing that offends me Is when some accuses me of being offended when I am as straight forward as they come! you obviously know nothing about the exhaust I'm going to get! you obviously know nothing about me! you dont even have to respond if you have nothing to say! I know you know all about me by the tone in the keyboard as it's being typed but If I suddenly become offended I will tell you so you can read itthen you dont have to listen to the voices telling you false information
1 - You originally stated that it would change it tremendously in "appearance" which is what I questioned. 99% of the exhaust is under the vehicle so unless you like to crawl under and look at it changing it will do little for the appearance from any normal perspective. That is what had me confused as to how it was going to make sucha big change in how it looked? Throw a new tip on the stock exhaust and the appearance is going to be about the same unless you are under the vehicle or you plan on running the exhaust out the side behind a wheel or adding a dual outlet setup.to answer your question ...how would changing an exhaust entirely change it tremendously? well it would be completely changed that's more than tremendously were talking COMPLETELY changed 100% different size, shape, color, the tip wont be the same the pipes won't be the same the muffler won't be the same! what would stop it from being different if it is in fact different? haha no one is fighting here! I'm just trying to explain my point of view based off facts alone! After I get my exhaust done we can just compare pictures, that seems like the most simple method I can think of. but I am going to continue being completely honest with you NHPATRIOT, I am yet to find a patriot I could'nt see the muffler or exhaust tip on regardless of the year. since mine will have changed completely I'm going to guess it will change completely in looks also. Sorry if there has been any negativity on my part...I am in fact glad you at least took the time to read my post! good luck to you in the future and I really like your pat! have a great day!
