I'm impressed that they're designing the vehicle that fast/getting it to market so quick. From axing the Liberty in August to a new vehicle in June the following year WOW!

It seems quick, but in reality the vehicle has been in development for the last 2 years. Since they stopped production in August they have been spending all of this time retooling the production line.

Based on other buildup's in the industry. I would expect the line to start up around the end of January with some test runs and then expect full production to begin late spring.

^ This kind of worries me

The Jeep CEO also confirmed the launch of "significant refreshes" for the smaller Patriot and Compass crossovers that will be revealed in the second quarter of the year. “I’m looking forward to the changes we’re going to make to the Patriot next year,” he said without adding anything further details.
Hopefully nothing but good things will come for the Pat's! I'm definitely glad that we're not going to loose the Pat though!

Sounds like good news to me! Prior to this, all I heard was they were combining the Patriot and Liberty, while the Compass carried on

^ Dude if they make Diesel's available in all models I'd be hard pressed not to trade my Pat in already! I'm stoked for the Detroit auto show now if they reveal the new Pat and whether or not Diesels will be available in other Jeeps :D

@ mrJeepr44...you are right, I just hope they don't ruin our awesome patriots  lol

LA Auto Show, there, he said it! The hype is getting more interesting with every news release. Diesel Jeep, where does the line start, I'm in if it gets any kind of MPGs.:pepper:

Yea for real! If I could get into a nice Wrangler w/ a high mpg Diesel I'd be at the dealership already lol

The only point in using a 3.0 V6 diesel with 190 HP would be mileage in my opinion. You could argue it is for torque, but the diesel doesn't have much more torque than the V6, and it has less torque than the V-8's offered. 3.0 liter diesel should be for mileage and decent torque.

www.Jeep.co.uk shows the wrangler with a diesel rated at 24MPG City and 33MPG Highway, after the conversion to US MPG's. It is a different diesel than the 3.0 liter, but you see what it is capable of. And that's with 197 HP and 339 ft lbs torque

Yea those numbers are pretty acceptable to me. But then again I'm not gonna buy a wrangler and immediately mod it and use it for tough rated trails. That's what older jeeps are for :p mine would be for the commute to wherever I am going and some fun trails and back...doesn't need to be able to climb Mount Everest or speed across the Mohave...

And Fiat wonders why Jeep owners are scared of how much they'll influence our next generation of Jeeps lol
