Economy chip v remapping

Hi

I'm considering buying an economy chip for my 09 Patriot CRD.

I've seen a few of the chips online, with mixed reviews, but I am wondering if remapping would give more of a guarantee of improved economy?

Hello Si, I recently bought a CRD and am contemplating a remap or chipping. The link takes you to a USA chip. Is it for diesel or petrol? There are a lot of sites in the UK offering upgrades. As it's a VW turbo diesel the upgrades should be well tested, but I don't personally know anyone who has had it done. If you have it done, any feedback/review would be helpful. Cheers, Will.
