op, i think the consensus was that the pat's fuel gauge is not an accurate way of identifying half a tank, so not a good way to calculate mpg. Its biased towards the 1st 'half'-- 50% on the gauge is more than half empty

For what it's worth, I've got the 2.4L CVT FDI setup with 50K miles, and I consistently get ~23-24mpg (maybe 22mpg in the hot months when I'm running AC). It doesn't seem to matter whether I'm driving back roads or highway. I don't do much city driving. I wonder if the 2.0L needs higher revs, which could cut into mileage a bit... I calculate mileage at each fill-up - I'm an engineer so it's a strange habit of mine.

Well in order to keep up yes it needs higher revs, but I don't let that bother me. When taking off from a stop light, I hit the gas and it goes to about 2100rpms till bout 30 mph, and then it drops down to bout 1500 from there, and stays there while I drive 45mph, and because it takes alot to get it going I go anywhere between 60 and 65 and stay there about 2000 rpms. So as you can see I don't drive it hard, and I don't like getting fdll 2.4 motor mpg, on a fwd 2.0. Yes I remote strat it,but its normally for a min. I start it as I'm about to leave the house, so that's not it. And I fill up with about 11-12 gal, so its always a full tank. Like I said, mix driving, filled up Friday, and 110 miles later I'm on half a tank. I'm just lost by this, and I'm not sure what the dealer can do without an actual problem.

Well could you try and fill up with non ethanol gas? I know your in NC and your gas prices are rediculous.. It's understandable why your upset about the MPG. It's currently 3.18 here in SC.

I'll have to check next time i fill up with how many miles im getting but its usually around 220 miles before I have to fill up. I'm getting 22-24 MPG on mostly two lane roads..

I just filled up here in central Texas and it was $3.29. My guage shows 1/4 down when it is really 5 gallons plus down but I know it takes about 11.6 when the light comes on. Just put 225 60/17 new tires on instead of 215s and my mpg dropped about 2 mpg. Need to check the air pressure in the morning. Have the 2.4 FDI here.

OK, went back and checked actual mileage: new tires are 0.47 in larger in diameter, 1.48 in circumference. That only gives me 2.37 more miles at 129 miles indicated and 6 miles more actual than 300 indicated. Only changes mpg from 23 to 23.5 as the mileage went from 129.0 to 131.37. Negligible amount.

Geez. Less 2 MPG for an inch taller?
Bummer

Don't forget to calculate actual miles driven if the tires are a different size. You may have driven more miles than you thought

$2.92 in Alvin, Tx!!
Wow!!
Just discovered my 2.4L which only gets 19MPG around town just hit 23 MPG with same driving. Why?
Didn't use the AC for 1 full tank.
Had a cold front move in. LoL

I get better mpg when the outside air temp is in the 70's as opposed to 100's, even with AC on

That mileage sounds terrible -- I get around 24 - 26 highway and 20 - 22 city, with the 2.4 CVT 4x4 (FDI).

Also, I don't think the fuel gauge (on mine, anyways) is linear. The first half of the tank seems to last a lot longer than the second half.

I really appreciate everyone's feedback good or bad. Like I said earlier, I will have this checked for sure, and keep some logs, and at least I know it may not be me, and its my jeep. So I feel a little better knowing im not trying to be some ignorant person bashing the Pat for MPGs, like I said, I know they aren't that great, but 21-22 is ridiculous for the setup I have, and what I do.

I own the North Edition 4X4.
I've reached 10,000 km on mine and the fuel mileage never improved. I average between 19 to 21 miles per gallon no matter whether I do more highway than city. Way off course from the advertised 29 mi/gal city, 38 mi/gal highway. I wasn't expecting to get what was advertised but I thought I'd at least come close. Very disappointing to say the least.

I cant even get close to that, I did that once, and that was it. Thats awesome! If I could get 24 or more, id be a happy camper!
That's with me driving 90% highway. A/c is always on...it seems odd, but when my highway mileage is at its best my city mileage sucks. And vice versa. I'm sure all highway, I could definitely break 300 no problem.
