Ive been up to crown king about a year ago no problem from the bumble bee/I-17 side. And I've only been like 5-10 miles past the recreation area down in 7 springs the only reason I was cut short was because the sun was about down

Was just looking at google maps... Plenty to cool looking routes, like maybe Crown King down to Lake Pleasant for a picnic lunch or something...

I just don't know those routes and if any of them are too rough, or maybe even too easy.

That sounds good Ive heard there are bypasses on the hard stuff

Hey has any one of you guys ever bottomed out on your patriot? Debating whether to get sliders or not.. i would be off-roading lightly every other weekend or so but nothing to extreme. Just not sure if it would be worth it or not...

OK, guys I've updated the first post with the latest greatest.

UA who & Carter1995 let's nail down a date/location. (Burly Rez Goat - let us know if there is a particular Saturday that you can join us and we can try to work around your sched.)

At first I was partial to Table Mesa because I'm familiar with it and if we hit a dead end we can always just hit another trail.

Then I got to thinking I'd rather go to a place I haven't been before, but that means whomever knows the location the best will have to set route & lead the pack.

I've thrown some dates out there as well (Oct 27th, Nov 3rd, Nov 10th). Any of these work/not work for you guys?

I was thinking those little handheld Radios would be really nice to have so we could communicate on the trail - anybody have them?

I have a point and shoot & my cell phone is decent but does anyone have a good camera so that the group shot comes out good?

I'm good with whatever date. I have a nice camera for the pictures I also have 2 hand held radios and a cb radio installed in the patriot. The hand helds I think can communicate with the cb radio.

I don't really know any trails well enough to lead but im happy to follow.

Going home this weekend for some B-days and Tuba city fair. I really want to go, but i dont think i can make this years AZ trail run... sorry man:(

Hey failwheeldrive I saw you today at 32nd and bell I gave you the thumbs up.

I wish I was around y'all. It'd be nice to be able to wave at someone on here. A fellow patriot owner... Other than these folks around here. They don't know anything about the jeep they are driving.

I feel the same way...the only people who know anything about their Jeep's are Wrangler owners. I've been waving to every Jeep I pass on the roads to reinforce the "It's a JEEP thing" ... not just a Wrangler thing haha

Theres a few people on base who recently purhcased Patriots from the same dealer I did but one's an FDI and the other's a FWD. Have yet to meet either of them...I like to think that I was their inspiration though :p

Anyways sorry for the thread highjack :smiley_thumbs_up:

Hey would love to join up for a run, think later dates in Nov would work better and may be cooler?! Haven't been on any of the trails up north of valley yet, but have been wanting to find some mild-moderate trails that the stock FDII could handle. Plus, this may reinforce later plans for small lift and better tires!...

Guess I'll chime in with a few suggestions for your run even though I won't be making it. Have been to all the areas you guys are considering . . . so for what it's worth . . .

Table Mesa:
I-17 north Exit 236 . . . fairly easy rocky trail towards Horse Thief Basin but only expect to get to Milk Ranch (abandoned) a couple miles north of Packer. Rocky terrain, high desert vegetation, no shade, views of Lake Pleasant, abandoned "ghost towns" and mine shafts (Tiptop Mine, Gillette and lesser ones) several crossings of Boulder and Cottonwood Creek. Can exit out thru Castle Hot Springs Road to the west then back on main highway 74 (Carefree Highway, which runs from Scottsdale Road to US 60 south of Wickenburg).

Crown King from I-17 and Bumblebee Exit . . . bone jarring road once you get out of Bumblebee Wash! Everyone should take it at least once, then they'll start going to Crown King from the backside along the Senator Highway out of Prescott or via Lynx Lake. No trees until you get into Crown King and Horsethief Basin. Horsethief Lake, Fire Lookout Tower with views of Lake Pleasant, Sunset Point and I-17 to the east.

Verde Hot Springs . . . Dugas Road, I-17 Exit 268 ( 6 miles north of Cordes Jct ) . . . bone jarring for middle 8-10 miles, no shade high desert gives way to tall pines winding down into Verde River basin and Verde Hot Springs (clothing optional)

Needle Rock via Camp Creek . . . Bartlett Dam Road access then south to Needle Rock on the Verde River . . . exit south to Ft McDowell and Fountain Hills . . . when you get tired of bumpy trails this is sand all the way since you are in a dry stream bed . . . one of my favorites. Many side canyons to explore. Cool off in the Verde River at Needle Rock and the brand new, day use area with tables and toilets.

There are too many more to mention . . . post your thoughts and I'll give my 2 cents or any help.
