Well I am toying with the idea of selling my 225/65R17 Yokohama Geolander AT's, so I can get the same tire in a 225/70. (another inch of ground clearance). I would only do it if I could sell my current Yoko's, which only have about 3,000 miles on them and look brand new.

So I am wondering, if I go that route... would I have any takers for the current tires? I spent about $630 on them. I'd probably be willing to let them go for $550

Thoughts?

ha... wow... 17 hours there, then 17 back. That's quite a haul for selling tires.... lol, If we ever go up to Springfield MO to visit family, I'd meet you halfway. Problem is I may need to sell them before I make that trip

Yea - I hear ya. Ya never know - i was being a wise a$$ to someone before - and dang if he wasn't coming to Chicago the next week. I bought it. :)

Good luck - hope you score a buyer.

Like I said, I am just toying with the idea right now. If there is interest in the ones I have now, I'll order the spacers and the larger tires :D

You know the size I have are not supposed to rub, but they do at full lock, and it was worse after replacing the coils (brought the tires in closer). The rub is very minimal, but if I go with a taller tire, no doubt it will rub.

The biggest you should be able to run without spacers on the 17's are the 225/65R17... but like I said they rub on mine. Most people say they have no issue, especially when they don't lift (keeping the lower control arms and tires further out)

IAW this tire size calculator your axle will rise < 3/4" above OE tire axle height w/ the 225/70-17 tire. Taller tires will increase the torque load on your drive train when towing. Gas mileage will decrease.

This is absolutely true. It is one of the reasons I opted for a FDII's lower gears, to help offset a larger tire size. Plus the trailer I plan on towing weighs half of the max capacity, so I don't think it will hurt the Jeep any. MPG... we'll see. Bigger tires probably won't do much to help it

Are you thinking on buying the new tires where you bought the tires you have? They may be able to trade them in if they look really good - and if they sell used tires. It all depends on the demand of what you have. Helped my dau boyfrn get new tires on his pkup - his tire size is in high demand by farmers lokking for used tires. They gave him a smokn deal on new ones plus $40FOR EA OF HIS OLD TIRES. I think he ended up payn about 425 total. Doesn't hurt to ask. Good luck.

I got them from tire rack... no take backs :) If I get what I am hoping for the ones I have now, then the new ones should only cost me another $158-175 installed
