Well the snow finally hit here in western WA. Up on Snoqualmie Pass it got about 14" and boy were we glad to have our Patriot with a good set of 4x4 tires( I ditched those street tires that came with the car early on.) It was also cool to see another Patriot behind us. Later on in the trip this nice Commander passed us up. It was my first time driving in snow while it was actually snowing(I'm formally from central CA and we never got snow)

Ayup...that's snow! hehehe

Nice to hear your Pat handled well in your first snow. Kinda takes the fear of driving out in that stuff, doesnt it?

Nice pics BTW.

Enjoy!

Wranglers work great

Here in SOuthern Ontario we were hit by another snowstorm and I can say, that the 17 inch Wranglers work great.I took the car on this very short but very steep hill where I normally climg up in second gear.I was bit hesitant to go ahead,I'm in no habit of falling into ditches. In one moment the car started to slide to the side.I immidiately stoped and pressed that [APS?] button for few seconds and when it displayed OFF I engaged the 4x4 and the car just went up like a tram.NO PROBLEM.I'm really impressed.I just saw in the rear view mirror this fellow in CAA pick up truck and he made a choice to turn around at the bottom in the hill and who knows maybe he headed to some Tim Hortons to wait the storm over.

The stock tires were Goodyear Eagle LS2 touring tires that were 205/70/16's that were just not aggressive enough for me. I put on a set of Toyo Open Country A/T 215/70/16 which was the biggest tire I could put until I go to a wider rim with some backspacing. They have been a wonderful tire. I have never used Toyo's til my nephew who works for Les Schwab recommended them. When I go to the bigger rim I'll probably put on a M/T style to get a more aggressive tread. In the snow this weekend the A/T's I had on performed without a hitch!

I live in the bellevue area of washington and we had about four inches of snow on an amazingly steep hill ( I live at about 1000 elevation) the patriot handled it without stress. it is an extremely solid snow car.
