So its been just over a year since I bought my 2011 Patriot and I have been wondering if anyone else has this issue. This all started approximately 6 months ago but I believe I already know the issue. Typically in the morning when I back out my driveway and apply the brakes lightly, there is a squel only heard in the cabin, not outside, and a slight vibration before coming to a complete stop. I would assume this is a slight rust buildup on the rotors from the morning condensation or the summer humidity. The first time I really noticed this was after a car wash I noticed a brown staining on the rotors from the rim cleaning solution. When I backed up the car begin to squel and shudder before coming to a complete stop. Eventually after I back out of my driveway the problem does not appear again. Am I correct that this is an issue with a slight rust development on the rotors or is there something else that could cause this? My previous car did not have rims as open as the 5 spoke on my Patriot so it may have been more protected from this issue. Let me know what you guys think.

I have the same thing. Well I have a squeak, but no vibration. It seemed to start after I ran through a deep puddle. My Patriot is garage kept, but I hear it every morning, but if I drive in heavier traffic it goes away once the brakes warm up. Weird!
