The winch itself worked really well. I had some challenges with the hitch mount fitting in my front so I had to grind it some.

The problem out in the desert is finding something to hook your line up to. I tested winch on a tree (mesquite I think) and it worked well. Then I tried using a 36" long prybar pounded into the ground as an anchor point but it pulled out.

Basically I bought it as kind of an insurance policy for when I'm out in the desert alone. I'll post some pics over the weekend after I get back from California

They worked. Very nice work on your pat, I have one suggestion though, get rid of the tan spare cover!

I bent some threaded rod and made a hook that I attach to the rack, then through one of the bolt holes on the rim and use a nut to secure everything.

Yeah I haven't done that yet, was debating as I thought that still gave me some visibility with the tails dark.
What do you think, should I do that black as well?
