I had to get rid of my beloved 2002 Dodge Durango that I have had since new, problems were starting to show up and gas was getting crazy. Going from a v-8 to a 4 cylinder is a big change, but I am getting used to it. The Patriot is more of a car-like drive as the Durango was all truck, so going over bumps is much smoother in the Jeep. I got the 4x4 in Mineral Gray Sport with the power package and the 17 inch aluminum wheels. I wanted the White Latitude with the sun roof but the price was more. Also couldn't find the freedom drive II anywhere near here, don't know if i really needed it. I chose the Patriot over the Dodge Journey, too many bells and whistles that i would not use; and over the Compass, I like the boxy look better. What I really like is the Wrangler Unlimited, but hubby wouldn't pay that much, and wish the Commander was still available. The only thing I did to it so far was put on the bug shield, would like to get the side bars, don't know what they are called. So far so good driving, just getting used to the noisy motor, and driving up hills with the ac on. I am just hoping I made the right decision on the purchase, it is just hard getting a downgraded vehicle after having one that i loved for 10 years. Also the dealership now reduced the prices of the White Latitude and Journey that I test drove, that stinks, and now they have a Liberty for the same price that i paid for my Patriot. I didn't shop around so it's too late, but i still like what i got

Don't beat yourself up over it. Happens to all of us...I was more than satisfied with my purchase but didn't know or realize that the Dealer would still have the 2011's into January...if I had waited one month...you know? I thought he gave mine away but it turns out he had quite a bit more room on them.

The motor quiets down after a while, it breaks in and while still a four it does go quieter. As to the performance...you will more than keep up once you get used to the vehicle.

Enjoy the Patriot, you picked a good colour.

Welcome to the forum!!!

Metaxa is correct, it takes a little while to get used to but once you do you will love it, expecially the gas mileage. It took me some getting used to, as I came from a 4.0L Grand Cherokee, but I am loving the better gas mileage!!

Here are a few pictures so far. All I have done to it is the bug shield, can't do too much to it right now, my hubby's mustang is getting work done to it. I would like to get the side bars and window deflectors

Welcome and congrats on the nice looking riot! I too traded in a 2002 Durango on my 2011 for the exact same reasons. I miss the towing capacity of the D, and the 3rd row seat, but not much else :)

I also see that you're in Pittsburgh. I live in Erie, but often work down there, one of my offices is in Bridgeville.

Our HQ is in Kirwan Heights/Bridgeville, and my building is in Canonsburg. You can see the HQ buildings right at the exit, and see the upper floor of my building from 79, across from South Point (with the for sale sign).
