Im not using a high power system and have about 700 watts total and a new battery with 800 cold cranking amps.

All I did was upgrade the ground and run an extra 4 gauge along with the original ground wiring.

I dont have any electrical requirements that the big 3 will help with and my amp has a digital readout and is recieving between 14.1-14.6 volts continuously.

BTW I really recommend the eclipse pointsource linked above. Smooth and sweet and cheap on ebay. I am seling the critical mass speakers. However, I will be fiberglassing my a-pillars for tweets. Either Zapco/ESB components or Oz Audio Matrix

Alright, I might just do the 2 grounds and call it a day. And I was looking at alot of builds. Definately considering tweets, and maybe mid basses in front doors, with comps or coax's in the kick panels.

hey tyrone

Way to **** on someones thread.. troll.

Some nice oldschool stuff you got there Tyrone. How deep are those by-9's? I had to move the crossover around on mine so it wouldn't jam up the window track.

3.44" deep and dont interfere with the window track. I already cut some extra plastic from behind the mounting area for the soundstreams so it was plug and play.

Im selling the critical mass - over rated and harsh. Even with an rta and 16 bands of eq and TA, couldnt get them to sound better than the $80 soundstreams. Marketing hype mostly. Only good aspect is very light and can take lots of power, super shallow.

The Eclipse and Soundstreams are neck and neck but I honestly think I prefer the soundstreams just slightly more. Eclipse is more laid back and a bit more midbass output. Both are excellent though.

The eclipses are FS as I will be installing the ESB/Zapco comp set over the weekend.

I recently picked up an 07 Patriot and have every intention of putting my existing system with Alpine Type X 12" and soon to be PDX 1000 watt amp. I see the obvious placement of the Amp under the front seat....However, i live in Wisconsin and with the snow we get im concerned about it getting wet. Any thoughts or suggestions?

1" rubber grommets/spacers to lift it up above the floor.

Good news for Patriot owners.

I spent the last 4 days trying different tweeter locations and measuring with my rta and listening to music.

Turns out, stock locations are not that bad at all. You are going to deal with a peak at 4k, due to reflections from the winshield but lowering 4k on the eq fixed that. You will have to boost above 10k due to being off axis so much. There were peaks and dips in all locations so this is not a big deal and goes with the territory.

However, a pillars have just as many peaks, mounting on the door results easier tuning but just barely and having the tweets on the dash really raises the soundstage.

Center image was easier to get with coaxials due to being in one speaker location but this is something the majority of people wont care about, just sound quality freaks. My solution will be active or bi amping so I can apply time alignment on each tweeter and mid.

So as an ex SQ competitor, I can assure you it is not hard to get good sound with stock tweeter locations through objective measurement and subjective listening. Im currently using the ESB/Zapcos and their passive crossover and it sounds great.

On a side note, I moved the sub from under the seat (passenger vibrations became annoying) and popped it in the trunk. This added the cabin gain I was missing and turned the enclosure to a whole other beast. It is one fantastic sounding enclosure and very small. I highly recommend it. It sounds great on all music, can get loud (not db-spl level) but can blend with or overpower the mids and only needs about 250 watts.

Its for sale as I started my project, but even if you dont buy it from me, its a great inexpensive sub that takes up little space and sounds fantastic. And Ive had dozens of subs.

I just did this review on another site and figured I copy and paste it here.

This is the sub and enclosure Im reviewing

JL Audio CP108LG-W3v3 MicroSub™ slot-ported enclosure with one 8" W3v3 subwoofer at Crutchfield.com

I was looking for a small sub to fit under my seat and grabbed one of these locally as it was small enough to fit.

Prior to going into this, I want to say Im not JL fanboy and I wanted to get the alpine version but it was too big. I love the w6 and w7 but all else from jl is meh to me.

I also was suspect that an 8" would keep up with my listening levels and this enclosure is about .4 cuft and tuned to around 33 hz....Sounds too good to be true considering the dimensions.

18-5/8"W x 11-3/16"H x 5-1/8"D

So I tried it under the seat and it sounded odd. I never had a below the seat sub and while it blended effortlessly with the front stage, it was lacking low end. Also my gf hated the vibrations. So I tossed it in the trunk and HOLY CRAP, talk about a transformation. Low end was full and smooth and transiets was still good once the delay was adjusted.

This 8" in a tiny enclosure plays down from 100hz- 30 with extreme accurateness and sounds as good as the majority of subs I have heard. It has no problem keeping up regarding output in a SUV.

Look how small it is (gotta see it in person to appreciate)

The way JL was able to get such a small size and low tuning is by using thinner wood and clever bracing.

This is a great solution for people with a sedan (mount under deck) or tucks obviously. It also comes in a 6.5" sub model and dual 8"

And here's a PAS review

PASMAG | PERFORMANCE AUTO AND SOUND - JL Audio CP108LG-W3v3 Subwoofer

Reading their review and the perfect 5 rating at crutchfield, I just wanted to let you just looking for a small, inexpensive all in one solution, this should be way up on the list.

Im listening to it while I wait for fiberglass for a larger enclosure thats stealth and I just smile. Sounds so good for what it is. Easily more output than my 10" IDv3 sealed I had in prior to purchase.

I did a bunch of stuff over the past few days.

First thing I did was hook up my Zapco/ESB component set and tidy up my amp wiring.

Image

The passives were also mounted under the drivers seat and are accessible if I push the seat all the way back and reach under for quick adjustments but I usually just set it and forget it.

Neatened up the amp and wiring.

Hooked up an IDQv3 10" in my spare enclosure

About an hour of tuning with the rta and it sounds amazing.

I got this Patriot used with 50k and the previous owner was kinda a slob, I had to replace the seat cushion due to a huge cigarette burn and the plastic was all scratched scratched up by the shift knob and underneath.

So I priced replacements and they were too high. I figured I would try a real Carbon fiber kit and just used a few parts. Got a lil fancy and used some extra parts of the kit I didnt plan to used to make a perfect trim for the double din.

I added a remote subwoofer volume control here

And thats where I stopped with the carbon fiber. I think it makes a nice accent and came out nice and fits well without being excessive.

Im pretty happy how it turned out and now with the scratches gone and the system sounding good, I can finally relax a bit

I would love a full interior make over like that, but the problem is, I have manual windows, but going to have a nav bezel. Curse the mobile app and not being able follow ebay links. Ill have to look later.

Most companies only cut the arm rest on the doors for power locks and the handle but I can't use that silly company.

I also bought a matching uncut CF sheet as I plan to integrate it into my sub install.

I can send you a few pieces if you needed it.

The only good looking dash kits in my experience are the molded plastic ones and theyre expensive. Thats why I only used it a little on flat surfaces that were scratched up.
