I've had my 2011 Jeep Patriot now for about 4 months and just looked at the front bumper today. There are definite flecks of paint that are coming off the front bumper. I scrubbed at them and picked a bit to make sure they weren't bugs or tar that was stuck on.

Is this, I hate to ask, normal? Or something that dealership will/should fix under the bumper to bumper warranty?

I haven't been doing anything out of the ordinary of road driving and light slow trail driving with it.

Mine isn't doing any thing like that, at all. What color is it? I would definitely try the dealer. If its defective, they should cover it... but I'm not sure if it is in the warranty

Could it be rock chips? You could protect it with Plasti-dip or 3M clear vinyl stuff, if something is dinging it. I do have some small pits from rocks and bugs, but that happens on every car

Is it peeling? Or is it pitted? If its pitted, its probably rock chips. You can get touch up paint at the dealer for $6, then get that 3M protective film to prevent it in the future
