Took my UK Pat for its annual MOT test today and it passed with flying colours!:pepper:

I felt like an expectant father waiting for the result...I was convinced there would be some sort of issue involving suspension bushes....however I shouldn't have worried.

Having said that I will now go through all the bushes and change them for uprated ones wherever possible and new stock items where it isn't possible to buy an improved version....that should at least mean that come March next year it will sail through the test again!:D

Congratulations on your flying colors. Good to know your Patriot is holding up very well.

In South Carolina we don't have to do annual inspections which North Carolina does. It is a good and bad thing that we don't. I don't have a reason for someone to look at my vehicle unless I'm getting an oil change. I doubt their inspection at that point is more than what they think they can squeeze out of my pockets.

Well done Borderspeed ---I dont think the rest of the world realises that our Annual MOT is the second strictest in the world ( Next to the Japanese ..)

Just reminds me the passenger windscreen wiper rubber, on the wifes little Skoda , is split !! ( A fail in uk ) , but MOT is not due untill October !!

Over here new vehicles have a three year exemption and then require annual testing....its a good thing as it ensures people have to maintain their vehicles and its an offence to drive a vehicle without a current MOT Certificate and it also invalidates your insurance.

If caught your vehicle is immediately seized with a fee of ÂŁ165 to release it plus ÂŁ20 a day storage charges....also you have to trailer the vehicle to a place of repair and then get it tested before you can get it back.

Most people caught in these circumstances can't afford the repairs or the fees in the first place and elect to sign over the vehicle for destruction, you still get prosecuted for the offence though!

The trouble is that the MOT is only a snapshot of the vehicles road-worthiness on the day it was tested and it doesn't guarantee that your vehicle is still up to MOT standard throughout the year.

However you are obliged to maintain the road-worthiness of the vehicle at all times...at best you are issued with a 21 day Vehicle Defect Rectification Ticket and at worse a court appearance!

Wow.. I didn't realize it was that strict! Well In a way I'm glad I don't have to deal with that.

In South Carolina you could drive with your car glued together and they wouldn't say anything to you. South Carolina has pretty relaxed laws when it comes to keeping your vehicle maintained.
