Gabriel,
Be advised, that 4x2 is only rated for 1000 lbs. towing capacity. That INCLUDES the weight of the trailer. You will have to buy the crossbars, or order them from the dealer, to complete the roof rack system, only the side rails are included with the original equipment. If you want to increase the towing capacity to something more realistic (2k lbs) then you need to get the 2.4L engine and the towing package. This DOES NOT include the hitch. I lived in Michigan for 45 years. I cannot remember a single year since I got my drivers license that I did not find 4x4 useful. Whether you NEED it or not is a question only you can answer. The 4x2 will go through snow fine, if you know the vehicles limitations. If you drive one of the 4x4 models you will find most snow storms to be a joke. You will be WISHING it would snow.

That is NOT true. The 4x4 with the FDII package comes standard with 2000 lb capacity. With the FDI package, 1000 lb is standard, with 2000 optional. The 4x2, with 2.4L engine, is 1K standard, with 2k available with the tow pkg.

The Security and Convenience group comes with cross rails. I am getting Kayaks and it looks like I will be able to carry two kayaks on their side, but if I want to carry them laying flat I would need to get longer cross rails
