Hey everyone... is the 1 inch lift only available with the FD2 package or does it come with the limited FD1 i want the lift but want the 5speed... based on these pictures from another post, http://new.photos.yahoo.com/sergio_r...60762389122821 it looks like this may have the lift but its FD1... if this is not the 1" lift doesnt it look like you can throw some 225's under there with no problem??

"Phantom" 1" extra clearance on the Ltd?

I understand that the FD2 option adds 1" clearance, but I am puzzled by the data on the website that appears to show 1" added clearance with the 4x4 Ltd option without FD2.

Using the "Compare Patriots" option, if you display the MT Sport 4x4 with D and E packages (and no other options) you see 8" clearance, but the MT Ltd 4x4 shows 9" clearance. The standard tires are different between Sport and Ltd, but unless I am misreading the tire converter calculator, the differences does not add an inch. Is this a Jeep.com typo?

Here is a rely I got from Mike at www.rockcrawler.com who tried out the Patriot and wrote a good review. I asked him about Trail Rating, extra clearance and such:

Hi Craig. They achieved it by using taller springs as far as I know,
and a slightly larger tire, as well. Keep in mind, though, that several
other things are done on the Trail Rated version, besides lift and low
range on the CVT2L. Higher breather, beefed up arms, heavy duty
radiator, stuff like that. Could you still take the FD1 off-road? Sure, why
not. But I think FD2 is really the best way and obviously the way Jeep
intended.
