I've a UK, RHD, 2.4 that last night would not let me in the drivers door. All other doors ok and button moved up and down but locked solid.
After clambering in and out passenger side a few times I thought why not unlock door manually with key.
One fatal flaw in that idea was that the patriot has only a key hole on the passenger side (LHD driver's door-get it) so that was a no go.
As it is now saturday and dealer is closed I removed the pos from the battery and left it 2 hours and reconnected battery, locked doors and reopened, driver door unlocked this time, so ecu was reset and a 10mm spanner is now carried in glovebox in case it happens again.
As a plus note radio came on and didn't need code, just as well as I dont have a note of it.

Cars used to be mechanical, then they got a bit of computer.

Now, it seems, they are all computer with a bit of wheels.

Wonderful when everything goes as intended but a pain in the butt when glitches show up.

I had my Patriot drivers door lock replaced under warranty . Was the temp below freezing??? some early Pats had defective locks fitted ( No grease in the actuator mechanism ) You left it 2 hours --yea it thawed---Dont think it has anything to do with batteries , ECUs & spanners !!! it was just bloody cold . ( Your jeep dealer should know about this problem --but since the Pat is now an obsolete / deleted model in UK. I doubt they are very interested!!)

how true!
love the signature,by the way.

are you by any chance greek?

I'll assume it is me you are asking.

No, but I was a child of the 60's and 70's.

Found myself on a beach on a small island off the coast and turns out one of the folks partying down was a Metaxa grandson or great grandson.

Anyway, the Metaxa family is big smoke in those parts I guess. Everyone else was agog that he and I were partying.
There were a lot of interesting and intriguing folks on that beach along with some of the best drugs and most beautiful women I've ever been a part of.

Sigh.

Been on Metaxa 5 and 7 star ever since.
With a beer chaser to get the taste out of my mouth!

It wasn't the cold, unlike England it's a mild 5c in Scotland and has been for a few days. Lock was ok in the freezing weather earlier in the year and it's a 2010 model.
My wife did say that there was a problem the night before with the interior light not coming on and then not going off but at the time no problem with the lock.
An ECU is just like any computer or digital equipment they can lock up and the simple fix is to switch off and back on. At least it's ok now and saved a trip to the dealer.
Now for the squeaky drivers seat......

Had to replace my door lock actuator last November.
At first I thought it was frozen, but as the rest of the doors opened I thought it a bit strange, 10 mins on the forum and got my answer.
Anyway, two weeks ago guess what, yep frozen door lock, no ice around this time so it is a faulty actuator again:mad:
Arranged to have it changed under warranty, mentioned to the dealer yet again that it is a know fault and got the usual- not known to us:confused:
Hopefully this one will last longer than five months.

After it happening 3 times in one day I booked into the dealer who said it was a common fault and he had a new actuator in stock just in case.
Been ok since, but still get the engine management light coming on if it's a damp morning and ok next time it's started, runs ok, in fact getting almost 50mls extra to the tank with this warmer weather.

Doubt its as simple as that I have 2008 pat in cold freezing weather drivers door locks. Now I have notice that it doesn't have to be cold it just does it every now and then.
I have read various comment on jeep forum and this appears to be a common fault a bloody dangerous one at that if you were to have an accident and it wouldn't unlock.

apparently you only need the code for the radio if you take it out and disconnect it from the wires and then put it back.

Door lock problem.

Thanks to Mr Strange, Had the comon problem of drivers door not opening, the button went up and down but still locked. Contacted main Dealer who cant even look at the car for a week so decided to try Mr Strange,s tip and took earth lead off battery only for a couple of seconds, then re-connected and "hey presto" works fine. Still going to take it in next week to main Dealer as the Patriot is just coming up 2 years old and under warranty, Thanks again.

Hi, first post, got my Pat in September.

I have just gone to get in my Pat and have this issue. I've also just had an issue with a dead battery, could the two be related?

I've not disconnected the battery yet, but will to see if this allows access but what kind of price am I looking at for a repair in the UK?

Thanks

I know this is old, but there is a TSB in the UK

Case Number: S1023000011
Release Date: 12/22/2111
Symptom/Vehicle Issue: Malfunctioning Door Latch
Discussion:
This issue only applies to Thatcham security latch system used in the UK (sales code LS9). Water
enters the door lock mechanism causing corrosion which disables the system. When this condition
occurs replace both front door latches.
Repair Procedure:
1. Replace all four door latches by following the detailed service procedures available in
DealerCONNECT/TechCONNECT, Refer to Group 23 > Door Front or Door Rear >
Removal/Installation Procedures.
Verification:
Verify system is working as designed.

Fantastic worked a treat, 10mm spanner in glove box, just in case.
Thanks
