The PAT is clean inside and out, the roof basket is removed. I think the PAT went about two months w/o a bath. It cleaned up okay, except for the front end. I need to work on removing a few stubborn bugs...

The head-on collision of between an insect your car's paint and trim is a disaster for both the bug and your car. As the insect's exoskeleton explodes, acidic fluids leak onto your car's paint. This may seem like a small thing, but did you know that shellac is a byproduct of insects? The bug splats on your car are basically shellac mixed with a bunch of nasty stuff. When allow to stay for a few days in the baking sun, any attempt to remove the calcified remains without a proper cleaning solution results in scratched paint.

Yep... I got some of that...

Wow... 60 days have passed since the previous post. I washed the PAT today. The rinse water froze on the pad in front of the garage.

A clean PAT is a happy PAT!

It was so much easier to dry the roof w/o the basket installed. The mud flaps/cladding/under bumper material did not want to release the winter grime. It had a good coating of filth from the last storm system.

I ordered a gallon of Optimum No Rinse Car Wash
yesterday.

I hope it will allow me to wash the cars in the garage w/o draging out the hoses and such. I was just COLD yesterday. I currently use the two bucket system w/ grit guards. It should also help with summer cleaning. I can spray the cars off, then pull them into the garage (shade, no wind) to finish them.

More info on ONR.

Pls post the SWR reading after you get your CB rig installed.

Well a week or so has passed. The ONR should arrive next week... So, I drug out the hose and washed the PAT again, today. Not as much ice on the drive way, but their was still ice. I need to find a useable tire brush. In the winter, I wash the wheels and the body, but skip the tires.

Any input on a good tire brush?

I bought a Griot' Garage 3" DA buffer kit a week or so ago. It arrived this week. I bought the buffer to use on the tight spots of the C5 that the Porter Cable DA buffer w/ 5" pads can't reach. I had a 4" long scratch above the headlight of the PAT that happened when I was moving some stuff in the garage. I used the Meguiar's DA MF Correction system (3" BP and pads) with the 3" buffer on the scratch and it is no longer noticeable. I am going to use the Griot machine to apply Zaino AIO this spring after a good wash and clay bar.

Life is good.

Well kind of off recent topic but I figure I would bring this thread up again instead of making a new one.

I am on the verge of ordering my Patriot. I am hoping by the end of this month but I am looking for the best deal and hopefully can get some dealers to battle for my business.

My question is about rebates. Does anyone have any ideas or patterns on when to get the best rebate?

Also does anyone have tips/tricks to get deals or to talk down dealers on ordered jeeps?

Any and all help will be appreciated.

Thanks

I think this thread is a GREAT thread. Really.

Are you a Costco member? A Costco membership may get you invoice pricing as an entering argument.

A mid-February detail.

The car was too dirty for an ONR wash w/o a good spray down, so I did the two bucket wash w/ 1 oz. of ONR in the wash water. The rinse water froze on the driveway, again... I picked up a good tire brush w/ a long handle. It came in handy. After it was dried, I used a little Z-8 on the paint to keep the crud from sticking, and QD/dressing on the wheels/tires. The front grille still needs some TLC. Oh, well, I could have done worse.

The roof rack may go back on in May.

Looks clean! I haven't had a chance to wash mine as my parents have their house remodeled and the driveway is taken for now so I have to postpone till next weekend. I did however paint those bolts on the bull bar as you requested :D How do you like your 225/70 tire? I'm still debating between 215 and 225. Leaning towards 225 as it's cheaper too.

18,000 miles. Time for another oil change. The cruise control enable function is acting up again, still no hard failure. The bubble on the door trim is growing. I had to order a replacement air filter from my local Jeep dealer, as they do not stock same. Rain, freezing temps and snow predicted through next Monday. I will keep the winter tire/wheel set installed for at least two more weeks.

Oil change complete. The PAT is good for another 6K miles. I will change the plugs and air filter at 30K miles.
