Bozzy, you can etch that statement in granite!

I noticed that the very first (and every time since) time I gassed up our Pat. Most *normal* cars have a mount on the gas door to retain it while fueling up, but nooooo, not our Pat. *grumble* Instead, it just dangles there, waiting to scratch your finish below the door.
I'm about *THIS* far from just cutting that cord off to where I can just set the cap down where I please. (yea yea, I know I run the risk of leaving it behind, but it's worth it...almost)

If you do leave it behind, you will get a check engine light. In my family's other jeep/dodge cars if the gas cap is not on tight the check engine light comes on.

Yeppers..knew that..just my sarcasm for hating that dangling thing against my Sunburst Orange Pearl paintjob!!! :D

My filler door has a hook to hang the cap on while filling.
RB, the pic didn't come through on my screen, but I am aware of the hook you are referring to and the problem with it, is that it puts the cap smack-dab in the middle of the opening where the filler nozzle needs to go. At least here in Illinois, the mechanisms required of the filling stations are rather large and bulky. They both won't reside in the same space at the same time..

I can either have the cap resting pretty on the door hook, OR I can gas up, but not both. :(

the only thing that really annoys me about my pat is the seat rails. When you move the seat back those metal rails are exposed. I've whacked my shins many times on those now getting in and out of the car. I wish they had invested in some sort of plastic casing for the seats.

I just noticed there is no glove box light.
That's kinda annoying.

(Hood light missing has been noted earlier, and agreed to now)

Yeah, but....
The hook is poorly formed, and in the wrong place.

This is really my only complaint with my Patriot. It's also one that I think I can fix with a gingerly applied screwdriver.

Yeah I leave mine dangling and face it towards the body work so it rests there while I fill up, the fact that you can't take your keys out is even more annoying.
An indoor release mechanism would make things much easier and lose the need to open it with the ignition key

Bozzy,

I hope your Pat doesn't get pushed on the railroad track by this mean and ugly Peterbilt! Guess your 4X4 could hold it back!

What a movie that was! (Dual).

Did your Pat come with a locking gas cap/door? My Pat didn't. I would prefer the interior release mechanism as well over having to use a key.

The BLAT!! the horn makes when you lock the car!!!!

Has ANYONE figured out how to tun it off?
You can do it with the EVIC if you have it, or the key if you don't.
Apparently using the key doesn't work on the 2007s, you might have to get the dealer to do it. Not sure if that was corrected for the 08s. There are a couple of threads on this already...I didn't go through all of them but that's what I got outta the ones I quickly read.
