I am trying to find solid instructions for removing the bezel. I have an '08 Patriot Sport. I found some instructions that talked about removing weather stripping in the window and removing the whole top of the dash. this can't be the only way!?

I bought http://www.ebay.com/itm/320830924501?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 but the seller said it wouldn't fit in my 2008 Patriot. They suggested this one.. www.ebay.com/itm/Jeep-Grand-Cheroke...Bluetooth-Radio-TV-/320830924515?pt=Car_Audio_Video&vxp=mtr&hash=item4ab30366e3

I wonder if I can get away with the first one and just use the new nav bezel with a metra dash kit?
I think they are concerned with the bezel because I am upgrading to the nav unit, but shouldn't the units be the same size, just with different bezels needed?

Well since that unit won't work and I don't like the one they suggested, I think I might just try to put one together myself.

I have a 2008 Patriot Sport with just the regular cd player. I want to upgrade to a navigation/dvd unit. Basically I will need the following to do so? I am trying to find specifics for a 2008 without the boston acoustic. I want to make sure these are the correct part numbers for an '08. Hopefully someone can confirm!

XSVI-6502-NAV Interface
40-CR10 antenna adapter
CHTO-01 CAN amp interface
Metra 99-6510 dash kit
Jeep Navigation Bezel
New 2 DIN head unit

re: satellite radio, etc.

No... these units do NOT support XM or Sirius satellite radio. Only way to add that to one is with a stand-alone receiver that lets you outputs its sound through AUX input jacks.

Also, if you read back far enough in this thread, you'll see that I bought (and still own) one of these stereos in my '07 Patriot, and unlike a few of the other regulars here, I really *don't* recommend it.

I'll concede this much: If your standards for a stereo are pretty low (you don't care much about sound quality, and/or one of your biggest concerns is a stereo that looks like it could be a factory original radio), this is probably a good buy.

If you're doing more of a head-to-head comparison between one of these Chinese GPS/bluetooth/stereos and say, anything from Alpine or Kenwood in a double-DIN form-factor? Forget it.... NO comparison.

It's a fact that the bluetooth in these things is one of their stronger points. It supports bluetooth audio streaming of music from your smartphone pretty well and does a good job of letting you take a hands-free incoming call. Unfortunately, it's REALLY bare-bones for actually placing calls. It has no internal phone directory to store speed-dial numbers, nor can it download the one stored in your phone itself. The display screens on the stereo are archaic too. (EG. When you press the "bluetooth" menu choice because you want to listen to streaming bluetooth music? You'll get the screen with the telephone dialing keypad on it, since it assumes you're selecting it to make a hands-free call.)

Do any of these ebay units have the ability to add satellite radio?

And who exactly in this entire thread was comparing a $400 ebay unit to a high-end $1000+ Kenwood or Alpine??? ..... Thats right. ABSO-FARKIN-LUTELY NO ONE!

Why not bag out a Patriot because its not a Range Rover?

The COMPARISON being made is between the VERY expensive 'Genuine JEEP' brand MyGig unit, its features, or lack there of, versus the ebay unit that costs a QUARTER of the price and has arguably more features and BETTER NAVIGATION software, all coupled with a factory look and fit.

Sure we can all either pay through the nose for the genuine MyGig unit from JEEP, with rediculously outdated navigation mapping and expectations to pay for updates a year down the track, OR based on your gripe, we should all pay easily $1000+ for a Alpine or Kenwood which will require aftermarket hacking of the dash surround and NEVER look genuine if it tried. Chop-shop style, (Good luck on re-sale).

Hmmm..... so its
$1500 approx for MyGig
$1000 approx for Alpine/Kenwood etc. and hack your dash to the shiithouse.
or
$400 for well featured, genuine look and fit, ebay unit.

People here are looking for VALUE! Value items to enhance their $15k Patriot, and here you are bagging them out for not forking out a TENTH of the price of their ENTIRE CAR due to a fetish with brand-names.

In the end, your comparison absolutely blows beyond belief. Way to let the team down.....

But they are selling for more than 400.00, many members have been paying between 600.00 and close to 700.00 for these Chinese gps units. You can get a My Gig Nav unit for a couple hundred more. Oemautoco.com sells them for 875.00, some of my friends was able to bargain with them and pick the unit for 775.00. I had a Chinese unit and like stated earlier the Bluetooth works great and the gps is good but the sound quality out of the speakers was below avg and the interphase sucked BA--s. And there is zero support when something goes wrong. If you can get a Chinese unit for 300.00 then it's worth it but if you are going to pay over 600.00 then it's worth the stretch to get the MyGig unit.

I believe these units run windows ce right? Is there a community that anyone knows of that can update the software to make it more user friendly?

hello all, i've a 2007 with BA upgrade, and RAR headunit(6cd, mp3, antitefth).
has anyone with a similar setup ever installed successfully this headunit? will it power on both the ampli oem in my car? if not, the ampli are switched by a +12V, or digitally?

thanks in advice
best regards
Federico

I am selling a used one for 200.00. Everything works fine, only issue is the volume button is a little sensitive or sporadic. It's in great shape and comes with bluetooth built into the unit and the GPS antenna. It's plug and play no wires to cut.
