I think they are concerned with the bezel because I am upgrading to the nav unit, but shouldn't the units be the same size, just with different bezels needed?I bought http://www.ebay.com/itm/320830924501?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 but the seller said it wouldn't fit in my 2008 Patriot. They suggested this one.. www.ebay.com/itm/Jeep-Grand-Cheroke...Bluetooth-Radio-TV-/320830924515?pt=Car_Audio_Video&vxp=mtr&hash=item4ab30366e3
I wonder if I can get away with the first one and just use the new nav bezel with a metra dash kit?
Do any of these ebay units have the ability to add satellite radio?
But they are selling for more than 400.00, many members have been paying between 600.00 and close to 700.00 for these Chinese gps units. You can get a My Gig Nav unit for a couple hundred more. Oemautoco.com sells them for 875.00, some of my friends was able to bargain with them and pick the unit for 775.00. I had a Chinese unit and like stated earlier the Bluetooth works great and the gps is good but the sound quality out of the speakers was below avg and the interphase sucked BA--s. And there is zero support when something goes wrong. If you can get a Chinese unit for 300.00 then it's worth it but if you are going to pay over 600.00 then it's worth the stretch to get the MyGig unit. And who exactly in this entire thread was comparing a $400 ebay unit to a high-end $1000+ Kenwood or Alpine??? ..... Thats right. ABSO-FARKIN-LUTELY NO ONE!
Why not bag out a Patriot because its not a Range Rover?
The COMPARISON being made is between the VERY expensive 'Genuine JEEP' brand MyGig unit, its features, or lack there of, versus the ebay unit that costs a QUARTER of the price and has arguably more features and BETTER NAVIGATION software, all coupled with a factory look and fit.
Sure we can all either pay through the nose for the genuine MyGig unit from JEEP, with rediculously outdated navigation mapping and expectations to pay for updates a year down the track, OR based on your gripe, we should all pay easily $1000+ for a Alpine or Kenwood which will require aftermarket hacking of the dash surround and NEVER look genuine if it tried. Chop-shop style, (Good luck on re-sale).
Hmmm..... so its
$1500 approx for MyGig
$1000 approx for Alpine/Kenwood etc. and hack your dash to the shiithouse.
or
$400 for well featured, genuine look and fit, ebay unit.
People here are looking for VALUE! Value items to enhance their $15k Patriot, and here you are bagging them out for not forking out a TENTH of the price of their ENTIRE CAR due to a fetish with brand-names.
In the end, your comparison absolutely blows beyond belief. Way to let the team down.....
I believe these units run windows ce right? Is there a community that anyone knows of that can update the software to make it more user friendly? But they are selling for more than 400.00, many members have been paying between 600.00 and close to 700.00 for these Chinese gps units.
