Hi

I am also looking to replace the factory fitted cd/radio unit in my patriot. For a all in one entertainment unit but the Mygig system is just to expensive.

What are the requirements is there a certain size to fit the gap in the patriot, also what does it mean by single or double DIN systems ??.

My patriot is the 2009 2.0CRD sport model

Jman, what is the radio reception like and what kind of interface do you get when you plug an iPod to the USB connector? The original unit mentioned has **** radio reception and a USB connection brings you to the most archaic interface ever seen.

I think the radio reception is average not the best in town but nothing to complain abt, I don't us an iphone so I have not tried the iphone functions but bluetooth with BBerry is good and the phone functions are good to use.

I also just bought a 2011 Patriot and didn't want to fork out the 2500 for the Chrysler Unit...so I bought the one on eBay. It installed in literally 15 minutes, direct plugin!! As this thread says, the radio reception is fine, but does lack treble. The digital music from SD, iPod interface and USB plays awesome through my Alpine 6x9's but the interface for them does suck...oh well, I negotiated the unit + rear camera + digital tv receiver for $700 (total with ship), it wasnt a bad deal at all. The iGo Nav software works beautifully once you add the TTS files and the unit looks factory. Oh yeah, I cut the illumination wire and spliced it in to an existing dash light and now the unit dims like it's suppose to!!

All in all...for $700 shipped (with cam & dig tv)...I would order one again!!!!

Has anyone tried hooking up a TV antenna to the chinese double dins? My double din take 2 3.5mm jacks? I'm assuming this is analog, since there is no more analog now in the united states ... What to do? Any suggestions ...

I found something like this but unsure if it will work.

Well for anyone who cared, and/or didn't know the solution ... It is analog and the best solution for it is to get a ATSC-M/H Digital TV Receiver Box ... That is all.

Aftermarket Nav

So if I have an '08 Patriot (US), I can just buy this...
Ebay Item#320826714448

then buy a new one of these since I didn't have the factory navigation and I'm good to go?

Sorry, I haven't posted five times, so I couldn't paste the URL's.....

At the end of the day, just about anything you buy will have been made in China. It's not the greatest unit in the world but it does a good job once you get used to some of the bad decisions made by those who implemented the operating system on the thing. The MP3 interface is unintuitive and somewhat unforgiving for filesystems (they say it supports FAT32 and NTFS but I guarantee that it won't work right if you don't use the factory settings of the hard drive), the radio has poor reception but the GPS and its software is excellent and the Bluetooth works very well without the need for an external microphone. All units have drawbacks and advantages so whatever you buy, you'll be complaining about something.
