If I put my Patriot with CVTII into Park and pull the parking brake on level ground I can get out of the car and push / pull the car. It will rock and move about 6 inches. Is this normal? I wonder if this thing would roll down a steep hill if I parked it on one.

ET - I've parked on a hill and in Park, it doesn't roll (and it shouldn't, thank God.. that would be a major recall snafu!). I know from experience with others cars that they often take a little roll to 'lock' when put in Park, but I never experienced it with my Pat.

My pat will roll a little bit, like 3 inches or so. I only notice it when my boyfriend drives because he keeps his foot on the brake and lets go when I am getting out of the door(not on purpose, just timing is off) and I normally trip when the car moves.

Yea, the CVT does have a good bit of 'roll' in the park position.

Been noted here by a few drivers before.

Never measured my distance before tho.

If you're engaging the parking brake and you can push it 6", it doesn't sound like it's doing its job. It sounds as if only the parking locking pin in the transmission is engaged. If you've ever looked inside a transmission, you wouldn't trust just using that on a hill.

I'd have it checked out.

Ditto what Brett said. While that's normal with just the transmission in Park (I don't trust that on anything other than VERY level ground), it shouldn't be happening with the handbrake set- mine sure doesn't roll like that with the brake set. Take it back to the dealer ASAP- that's a safety issue. It sounds like it needs adjustment at the very least.

the move in my CVT in Park is barely noticed. It moves a little sure, but only about a few centimeters (less than an inch) and then stops. Same thing with the TF-727 in my Hornet and the BW M-12 I used to have in it and the TH-350, TH-400, TH-700R4, plus several other transmissions I've had in the past.
