Yes, we made it. 2,000 feet of elevation in 2.5 miles (15% grade). There were two snow crossings on the trail and one in between the "Top" and the "Peak". Getting to the peak, from the top, was the hard part. But I wanted a pic of the USGS marker. Round trip, with lunch was just short of six hours.

I think it took more time to go down, than up... there were LOTS of hikers on the trail headed up, as we were headed down. Many of folks would start to chat when we yielded to their right of way. That was all fine and dandy, except the Offspring needed to get rid of some excess water...

There are plans to install a restroom at the 1/2 way point.

I think our next mountain hike will be Brokeoff Mountain.

I got four cords of wood to split and stack, plus a few winter chores to get done. It won't happen while looking at the monitor of my laptop...

I just had the tires rotated at 11,789 miles. The PAT went from pulling left to tracking straight. Prior to the first rotation, it pushed right. I will check the air pressures later today. It is also time for another oil change.

12,1XX miles - 5 quarts of M1 0W-30 AFE and a NAPA Gold filter. I adjusted the TP to F:39 and R:37. The next project is to get the winter tire/wheel/TPMS combo setup and ready for install. The roof rack rails and cargo basket will be removed soon and put in storage.

Yes. When I went to work on Monday, there was about 3/4 of an inch on the ground. There is snow on Thompson Peak, Plumas National Forest. I can see it fron my front porch.

It looks like this...

Hmmm... It may be time to put on the winter tires...

From 780 KOH radio - SB 395 is being closed south of Hallelujah Junction (Highway 70.) CHP reports numerous accidents and spinouts in the Red Rock area also.

Many thanks go out to the_jeep_now! He sold me his take off 16X6.5 stock steel rims yesterday. It was cool to meet another patriot.com member. My stock lug nuts will work with the new wheels.

I now need to price out a set of TPM sensors and studless winter tires...

I found these TPMs on Amazon ($126 for a set of four)...

and I think I may go with the Continental ExtremeWinterContact in 225/70/16.

There is snow on the ground, at my house, today.
All went well. The take off wheels, winter tires and TPM sensors all worked together as a complete package. The tires have not rubbed, they look okay on the stock wheels and I have no low TP alarms. I think I will get a set of beauty rings just to tidy things up a bit. Measuring from the ground, across the center of the front axle, to the bottom of the fender lip, was 32 1/4". The rear measured 32 1/8". It "seems" to stand a little taller...

... and there is snow on the ground today. :)

Pics to follow.

There is still room for snow and ice between the coil spring plate and the tire

The one on the right is running Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus ZPs (Zero Pressure), an Ultra High Performance All-Season run-flat tire member of Michelin''s Pilot family of low profile, high-speed tires. Developed in the Original Equipment (O.E.) sizes for Chevrolet Corvette C-5 and C-6 coupe and convertible sports cars, the Pilot Sport A/S Plus ZP is designed to temporarily support the weight of the car even after a loss of air pressure, as well as combine enhanced all-weather performance, wet grip and treadwear along with year-round traction, including in light snow.
Whatever
