I have the REQ radio with the U-Connect button. It looks like I need the 82212499 module to get my U-Connect working.
http://www.justforjeeps.com/cesyuchafr.html

But I also want the iPod cable which according to the site is 82212160
http://www.justforjeeps.com/ipinm20.html

Now the site says the 82212160 does not give the info on the radio and the iPod is used to control playing. "Harness charges iPhone and iPod. Only able to control via iPod and not radio."

Now, the first link above also says"Item # 82212499 (Replaces Item # 82211877)"

Then it says, "Item # 82212000- Connects iPod to the Mopar UConnect module with iPod integration*, item numbers 82211877 or 82211878"

So basically I am at a loss for what I need to buy!

2011 with the REQ. Has anyone bought the U-Connect module and a iPod interface cable that allows the iPod to be worked from the radio? And if so what did you get?

You would need the uconnect module and the cable in the link below(I can give you the P/N when I get in to the office tomorrow). I bought one thinking I needed it to connect my iPod, but it had nothing to do with the cabling, the UConnect module needed a software update.

The direct iPod connection cable in your link plugs into a Mopar FM modulator, hence the charging and playing, but no control of the iPod.

Okay, I see no module in the pic. The cable you show k6861099 is part number 82212160 I think. I don't have the RES radio, I have the REQ. I want to control the iPod from the radio controls. I am fairly certain nothing I showed is FM modulated.

The cable that plugs directly into the iPod is for the modulator, which you do not want.(the picture in your link may not jive with the actual product being sold, which is whu i even mentioned it) You will need the Uconnect module in the link you provided and the 82212160 cable which will give you a USB connection to the UConnect module, and you provide the USB cable to plug into your iPod. I got a short, coiled cable, I believe it is the 'Griffin' brand.

Correct. That is what I posted in my original post. Module 82212499 and cable 82212160. http://www.justforjeeps.com/ipinm20.html it's the third one down. It says: Item # 82212160 - Connects iPod to USB on the Mopar UConnect module with iPod integration*, item number 82212159 or 82212499. Harness charges iPhone and iPod. Only able to control via iPod and not radio.
For Jeeps with Mopar UConnect.

So with this the iPod does not work on the radio controls correct?
I am getting ready to pull the trigger on getting the module and if the iPod can't be controlled via the radio controls I see no need to buy the cable.

If you are using the Uconnect module and the USB cable, you will have control of your iPod, but be aware that not all versions of iOS are supported. What iPod do you have and what is the software version?

Well that's good to know.
I have a older version iPod. I have not done any updates on it and won't. I also use my 3g iPhone. I guess I'll find out once I get it connected up. So why is it the justforjeeps website says the 82212160 will not allow the radio to control the iPod? I am guessing the 82212000 cable does not work with the 82212499 module? Thanks.

If you go to the 'owners' link on the jeep website, there is a compatibility chart for ipods and bluetooth devices

Most of the dealers are clueless when it comes to upgrading the s/w. Check the knowledge base for the tutorial.

Okay. More questions.

I installed the 82212499 U-Connect module in my 2011 with the 6 disc REQ radio. I also installed the 82212160 USB cable/ iPod integration. I have not had the car into the dealer yet to get the device flashed and updated. If I plug my iPhone into the cable the phone charges and the iPod function is identified, but I can't get it to play. I am guessing I need to get the StarScan done at the dealer first and the U-Connect synched first?

Anybody know?

And should I print out the StarScan instructions and take along?

What is the software version listed on the module, and what iPhone and OS do you have?
No clue on the module software, it's what ever they send it with. I have the iPhone 3 no clue as to the OS on that. It says software version 4.2.1 if that means anything. I am as techy as a one winged duck.

My question was, do I need to have the UConnect flashed first so it works for the iPod function to work? I know the UCONNECT will not function until I do the StarScan, just didn't know if that includes the iPod function.

The 4.2.1 software is known to work with the uConnect module. The software version of the module is printed on the side of it. Take a look at this.
A quick way to test the USB port would be to put a few songs on to a USB thumb drive and see if the head unit can play them.

I'd have to remove the radio to see what version I have.

My phone connects with my other UCONNECT vehicles just fine.
My question, again, was if I need to do the StarScan deal before the iPod function works!

As far as the USB Thumb drive goes, how would you access it via the radio?

Okay, I took it in and had the StarScan deal done. The "voice" works, but I hear nothing. The fricking dealer charged me and said I am now on my own. I can speak into the mic and the help and ? mark comes up. It flashed "Phone Book".

I guess I pull the radio again and double check connections ETC.

Is this going to be a software upgrade issue?

I started the Patriot and pulled it out of the garage and now the UCONNECT works. Go figure.
But my iPhones won't pair.

Anyone have clues on what software updates I need to make the iPhone work with the 2011 UCONNECT module?

My iPhones are older 3G with the 4.2.1 SW and the module is the 63.01.23 sw if I am reading it right. According to the Jeep website no iPhone works with the 2011 UCONNECT and it says a update software is on the way.

What do I need to do?

BTW, the iPod works perfect with the REQ now.
