Is this normal.

With the car turned off, no key in ignition, in park when I turn my steering wheel from left to right (15cm) distance, I hear a clunking noise. Its from the steering components. Not Ball joints, etc.

When the car is turned on and I steer the wheel from left to right (15cm) it is fine, no play.

I tried it in the 2011 showroom car, it feels tighter, no noises at all.

Is this normal? Normal wear and tear? Its a 2007 with 88000km.

Thanks,

i don't get it,when the car is turn off and no key in the ignition, you should not be able to turn the steering wheel from left to right, the steering should locked!
I agree, it will be hard as no power steering. but just try wigglying your steering wheel lightly.. within a 15cm left-right. Do you hear any steering clunks?

I know the showroom car doesnt. But I think it might just be wear and tear?

Ill try it on a used patriot in the lot when I get a change.

i hear a little clunk but it most be normal,i had my entire suspension and driving component checked a week ago and everything was fine.

It cost me a complain, and they changed them since I'm still under waranty ;)

If you're not under warranty, I guess going with what you mentionned would be the best.

I only had a quick look, but greasable would be the best too.

sorry guys, but not. THe steering wheel is not locked (yes, because the cost).

you need to check all the components and suspension etc, but is not healthy for the car move the steering wheel when the engine is off .

Yeah sorry, I've read too quickly.

If you are not in movement, then forget about the sway bar bushing.

With no key in ignition, the steering wheel is supposed to be locked...but I never really realized on my pat. If someone could confirm...

No, no locked steering wheel... not 100% of mopars, but a lot of them. And a lot of GM and FoMoCo cars etc etc
