So I ordered a front bumper from TAC back in May. I should have it by the end of the week. When I ordered it they said 2 weeks, so if you order one don't hold your breath 2 weeks means 2 months. I am making a SEMA Patriot! Mine will be a little different, but should look just as kick butt.

I finally got my bumper in and had an autobody shop install if for me. They said it was a pain in the butt. The worst thing was that the passenger side was welded at an incorrect angle and when bolted up it was way under the fender. The driver side was fine. They didn't tell me anything about it, instead they went ahead and put it on the frame straightener and pulled that side out. Looks perfect now, but there is a gap on that side so that you can see a little moreof the condensor for the AC. So I contacted TAG about the bumper not fitting and he said that they won't do anything about it because we voided the warranty by pulling the bumper out. The guy was a big jerk. The 5.5" lights don't fit in the 5" holes they made for it either. you guys can do what you like, but my opinion is not to do business with these guys. First they tell me 2 weeks for the bumper and it turns into 2 1/2 months. Then when we finally get the bumper it is of poor craftsmanship. I guess I could have spend $121 to send it back to them and $121 to get it back in another 2 months and maybe got one that would fit. Sorry to rant, but TAG won't call me back and I had to get that out.

If you paid with a credit card do a charge back, and demand they fix it and pay return shipping. Be sure they are at fault before doing so.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience, but glad you told us about it. I was on the verge of ordering front rear and having them shipped to New Zealand.
I guess I have just decided to make my own.
I loved the look of their rear bumper with tire mount, but thought the front looked a bit strange - sort of SEMA style, but somehow gone wrong.

Rear bumper

Hmm... I have no real need or interest in replacing my Patriot's front bumper, but I'd sure be interested in their rear bumper, since my kid just scratched up the paint on mine real badly over the weekend. (She was trying to load her bicycle into the back and managed to put a few big long scrapes in it, in the process.)

Knowing the cost of getting a body panel repainted these days (and these scratches are way beyond "fix with a paint pen" territory), I think I'd rather just buy one of those steel rear bumper replacements, painted black, and consider it both a fix and an upgrade.

If it has poor fitment like the front apparently does, though ... AND the customer service is lacking? Well, that stinks! Any other alternatives out there?

Well TAG is correct that the warranty was voided when the bumper was pulled. I would be more upset with the installer for on contacting you first to see what you wanted to do. Can blame TAG for someone else voiding the warranty. They might have been a little more friendly if they were contacted about the poor fit first.

Got the front and rear bumpers last year from tag and didn't have any problems with the fit. That mine on there web site. Already had the rear bumper save the rearend when a trailer rammed into it. So I guess it has paid for itself. They were a little slow but the used mine for template for the rest. The first he built was for the 2 wd and he said it wouldn't work for the 4 wd. But other than that I'm happy.

Reviving an old thread...

What kind of MPG are you guys getting with these bumpers? Looking at getting a Patriot down the road... and the look of the Sema style bumper makes me like them even more. Curious as to how much it effects the MPG with it only being a 4cyl.

Please post if you have FDI, FDII and stick or auto and size tires...

If we were to get a Pat we'd definitely be lifting it with RRO and some Gen Grabber AT2s with at least a front bumper. We're wanting something with better MPG for travelling, just not sure how much these mods will effect the MPG, particularly the bumpers.

Both would affect MPG in some way, but I would count on the Grabber AT2's affecting the MPG more so than the bumper...those tires are heavy. Rotational weight plays more of a factor than just stationary weight...meaning I would think the rolling resistance of the heavier tires would put more drag on the engine than just the bumpers making the truck heavier.

I'd opt for a lighter weight tire like a Yoko Geolander, Cooper AT3, or Hankook ATM.

I haven't seen these guys around for a loooooong time.

Maybe someone else with a steel bumper can chime in if these guys have been inactive...

The General Grabbers in a 28" size are only 30lbs... roughly 3-10lbs heavier than stock tires depending which ones you have. I know it'll be a decrease in mileage for bigger tires, but I can't imagine too much seeing as how it's only small increase in size from stock. Total weight we're looking at 12-40 lbs more than stock.

Hopefully someone with an custom bumper and bigger tires can give some input.

@PATRIOTWHITE21

Don't suppose you could post a few more pics of the front end from other perspectives and lighting?
I'm thinking of getting one but the pics on their site don't help AT ALL!!
Thanx!
