How do you clean dirt, smudges, etc from your headliners... Sadly enough in my 2 years of college and working at Collision Repair Facility, i've never had to detail a white head liner (beige or whatever other color you want to call it.)

Any tips, what products do you use...

My fear is that the dirt will dinge up the rest of the ceiling.

Go Home Depot or Lowes and get some Folex. It is the BEST carpet and upholstery cleaner I've ever used. It's not soapy and will not foam.

Next, take a towel, preferably microfiber, and soak it with hot water. Wring out and fold into quarters. Spray the Folex onto the spot and let sit for 30 seconds. Finally, take the folded towel and blot the spot.

I think you'll be happy.

It's a Jeep. The thing is sort of made with the idea it's going to get dirty. I just use a wet rag, wipes right off. Stubborn stains (frozen/exploded soda, scuff marks from high heels... I use Lucas Oil interior cleaner)

I've used a Tide pen, and interior cleaner on the headliner, worked well. I had to remove coffee after I had a coffee explosion inside mine. Came out very clean. You need to be a bit careful on the headliner, you do not want to use anything too strong, strong cleaners can weaken the glue holding it up.

i'd take it to a good detailing shop.
after all,it's something you do maybe once every two-three years.
they will give you a professional clean, and after that you can get something to clean just when needed.
and careful with getting their legs up.maybe get a sign on your window saying "no high heels ".

I just got back from a weekend of camping/fishing and cleaned up my Pat. The headliner had some scuff marks (NOT high-heels this weekend, maybe next week...) and some organic debris (Worm guts) from resting one of my poles on the hook at the rear grab handle. The cargo area was scuffed up some, too, and the cargo floor carpet was pretty dirty. About 3 minutes with the shop vac, then a lint roller did for the carpet. The side panels and headliner I used some warm water and Dawn dish soap, then sprayed it with Lucas Oil interior cleaner and it came back to about 99%. I can tell where the sidepanels were abused some, but the headliner looks good as new. As long as the headliner doesnt get greasy stains it cleans up nice.
