how does this TSB work exactly, how do I go about getting it? I have a 2008 Pat that I bought in Mid Sept, do I still need it?
You should not need it.

AZcycle,

Should we take this back to the cycling thread? How hard is it to ride up Mt Lemmon, and how fast do you come down? I did drive up it, but that will never give you an accurate feeling. I am a flatlander from Florida, so most any hill looks intimidating, but we can ride for hours at sustained speeds on the flats. However, we have a ride here near Orlando called the Horrible 100 that has all the "hills" of Florida. The worse is a very steep hill called Sugarloaf, and after the 80 mile mark it is all you can do to pedal up with a 39-23 gear beyond 7-8 mph. I do not want to know my heart rate after that climb.

I'll quote this in the Cycling thread and continue it there... :D

Aderza7... since you purchased a 2008, your computer has probably been set correctly from the factory. This particular TSB was for Patriots built before April 2007.

update

is their an update for an 07 patriot north 4x2,

CVT Software Update Done Today

I went in for the 10,000 kms oil change. (07 Pat North 4X4) I was having the ticking sound. Slow accleration, sluggish too. It felt like it was trying but then sort of took a step back. I printed off the tech sheet from Chrysler and gave it to the service guy. My Pat was built in May 07. The update was for those built on or before April 07. WOW what a difference. Quick accleration. Very smooth, not sluggish as I pick up speed. Now I have a new noise. I asked my girlfriend if she heard it. She says yes. Then told me I was retarded.

Well, I am taking mine in tomorrow (January 17th) to get the CVT flash. I hope I don't regret it, because the Jeep is okay and I am getting good mileage, 25 city and 28 highway. I don't want to go backwards!

Any reports?

My mileage has decreased slightly recently, but I think it is mostly due to it needing an oil change, lower tire air pressure, and a slightly heavier foot. :) That being said, I'm still getting at least 25mpg in town. My last highway trip was abysmal (24mpg) but that was because I kept it at close to 80mph with TWO heavy, air-dragging mountain bikes strapped to the top.

But it's still plenty peppy and even with the slight drop in mileage, I'm still a happy camper.

Thanks AZ,

I am still a little reticent, because I am always leery of fixing something that's not broken. Up until now, have you noticed decreased mileage? I recently took mine to North Carolina, driving near 80 mph, into the strong headwind of a cold front and low twenties for the temperature loaded for vacation. I got around 22 mpg going up and my regular 27 mpg coming home. My wife's Scion xD, we were travelling in caravan, also got bad mileage for her car at around 26 mpg (usually in the low 30s).

I also noticed you are on the Bicycling Magazine web board from time-to-time.

AZ, I bought my 07 Pat 4x4 CVT in May of last year, however I don't see any bulletins when I search on the Jeep Owners website with the last 6 of my VIN. Should I be looking somewhere else to see if I need this flash done? Just from my experience, I think I would base don the comments I have seen here. "Slow or slugish accelleration" etc.
Any guidance is appreciated - Thanks!
