Saturday I watched a fireoworks show in jim thorpe, pa.
Today, if rains die down, bbq, chili cookoff in my community, then bonfire by the lake.
Maybe after wife and kids in bed will head out to do some catfishing via kayak.
Monday, take it easy, then head home and possibly catch nyc fireworks from my roof.

On Independence Day I will be grilling foods, drinking beers, and going to fireworks :)

Well, out here in the socialist state of CA (aka: the peoples republic of CA) I will be working on the Lions Club fireworks firing crew.

We'll set up all the motor tubes in just a few minutes before it gets too hot (expected to see 106 today...) and then at dusk (around 8:52, we'll light off the first of $11,000 worth of fireworks. We do not use electric fired rounds--each cost an additional $2.50--but use a propane torch to ignite the fuse. Now--for you math majors: The fuse material burns at 300 feet per second. The fuses are generally 4 feet long. so..how long from lighting to boom? Experience says, just enough to turn your head away before the mortor leaves the tube. this is a heavy rush! And many of us say, "it's a blast..."

I'll report in tomorrow with the count of fingers and number of underwear changes that occurred...

Just going to wish all my USA friends a Great Independence Day...& Terasec I spent a day in Jim Thorpe back in 93 ( old Indian name Maunch Chunk) Quaint place ......

I plan on riding too... but of the snowboarding variety! In my case, I'll be riding until my thighs "go numb". Will be taking a break around 10:30 for an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast, and wrap it all up this evening with fireworks.

I hope everyone has a great holiday!

Right, Tip, let those tax-evadin' rebels enjoy their pancakes and fireworks while they can. They won't be a-smirkin' when the Redcoats catch a few of 'em and whisk 'em off in a convict ship to Australia....:beerchug:

Hey Russ we could always invade them from our colony in Canada & push them " Down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico" & out into our Caribbean Colonies?????

Independence Day Ride

We spent our Independence Day on our motorcycles. I mounted my V-Star 950 while my wife rode her Virago 750 and rode the 70 miles from home to Decatur, IN where we ate at Arnold's, a 50s style restaurant. I had the Route 66 Steakburger while my wife had a tenderloin. Awesome food, awesome atmosphere.

After we ate, we traveled to Prairie Creek Reservoir just outside Muncie, IN. We rested there awhile and watched the sailboats.

We rested our back sides for awhile, got something cold to drink (non alcoholic) and then headed for home.

After we got home we popped the lid off a cold adult alco-beverage.

It was a great day. :D

I like my Patriot but sometimes you just need to get away on two wheels.
Best wishes my friends.

Down with King George!

Slept in, most of the day, went for a swim and then went to the Fort Worth Fourth festival.
