check engine light and shuddering

Hi,

New forum member here...love my 2008 patriot.

while driving down a gravel road...ml light (flashing motor icon) came on, stayed on, and I noticed when slowing/stopping car begins to shudder like it's about to stall, but doesn't quite.

Car has little over 36,000 miles on it, and has never done this before. Any ideas?

Did you put E85 in there by accident?
Otherwise, gravel road washboard surface, maybe took a wire loose.

This could be anything from a loose wire to uncoupled vacuum hose to new plugs...codes would let you know at least where to start
