Right, there are 3 radiators in my Patriot. The small front radiator appeared to have some sort of fluid leak. This fluid appeared to be clear and not sticky or thick. The leak was only small and noticed whenever the car was left for any period of time after running.

It appears to have now stopped but I cannot find any signs of any fluids needing topping up. Anyone know what this raditor is cooling?

If you have a CRD model, one is the vehicle radiator, one is for Air Con and the other is the Intercooler.
I would agree that its just condensation from the Air Con.

Nope it is not. There is def fluid running down the pipe of the small front radiator. Is the front one the inter cooler or air con?

Water from the air con unit would be further back into the engine bay. This is right at the front just behind the front spiler/bumper assy.

Yes it is the 2.0 ltr CRD Limited.

My guess is 'intercooler' because the second radiator back has what I think is the high pressure side connection to the air con. I've been wrong many times before though.
Is the leak from the pipe you can see through the front low down on the off side?

Are you losing coolant or is it too little to notice yet.

Too small to notice. in fact right now it has stopped leaking:). Looking at the front of the car it is the very front radiator. The very first pipe (Left side) you can see but there appears no leak there............the fulid has no colour what so ever and is not sticky. It feels like water.

So if this is the inmter cooler, would this be water or oil?

The intercooler is an air to air intercooler, there should be absolutely no fluid in it! If there is I'd be very very worried!

So we are back to square 1 then. Cannot be the inter cooler. Not the main radiator, so this first small radiator is for the air conditioning? That would be a coloured fluid would it not? The fluid I am losing is clear liquid, no colour, no odour and feels like water. However it is not the main radiator.

I can't think of any liquid in a Patriot that hasn't got some kind of additive in it. I'm with DDawg and Borderspeed in thinking it's just the condensation. Do some runs with air-con on and air-con off to try and catch it on the hop. It can be a considerable amount. I called LandRover Assistance out once at Stansted Airport to a Discovery courtesy car because I'd never seen so much fluid under a parked vehicle. They said it was common! Not for me it wasn't.

One other thing. How about a leaky washer bottle or hose?

I am thinking it might be condensation formed on the outside of one of the radiators. I don't drive a CRD so don't have the extra cooler but I'm thinking this might be it?

The alternative is that the liquid is coming from somewhere else taking the shortest path down which just happens to be to one of the radiators.

maybe the airco radiator?
that is in the front of the radiator.
how is your airco?is it working?

I just had a closer look and I think I was wrong. It hard to see but I reckon that pipe from the front radiator has an electrical connector on it and then the high pressure side A/C valve so it must be the air con radiator.

Anyone know what the next radiator back is?

Raining in Cleveland??? I dont believe you !!Cleveland was abolished in 1996----It was split up & sold to the highest bidder----I think FIAT own some of it!!! Hee Hee...

It's even nuttier than that, Tip. We are allowed by the Post Office to use as our address any of the following: Redcar and Cleveland, Cleveland, or North Yorkshire. I had a guy who worked for me who was never even touched by Cleveland. For the whole of his (sixty year?) lifetime he has written Guisborough, North Riding of Yorkshire!
I do run the risk of getting my mail a month or two late with an Ohio re-direction stamped on the envelope.

The 1st radiator which is behined the bumper is the intercooler, next is the radiator for the air con, and next is the main radiator for the engine, have you tried the taste test ??, if the fluid tastes sweet and bitter it will be antifreeze or screen wash, no taste then it will be plain water, if its the latter it will be coming from the air con. hope this helps
