i was not spinning wheels it just diddnt have enought a$$ to get out of its own way

i need more power what can i do?

I NEED POWER BEFORE I ROUTE TO SELL THIS THING

Dont forget the Pat is a small family Wagon that just happens to have 4x4 ( some of them ) Its powerful enough for general family use, but with the 2.4 thats about it!!

You need the Export 2.2 Turbo CRD ....but with North America stuck in the land of the Dinosaur...you cant have one !!

maybe removing some air from the tires would have helped, but you would need a way to put it back it, especially when towing.

esp off (full off)
deflate tires.
most important, tire tread that is sand compatible.
not all tires behave properly in sand.
some are better,some are worse.
keep that in mind.

I'm not an expert but, what does the doo weigh? how steep was that ramp, what model Pat are you in?

I have a 2.4 manual and would be extremely disappointed if it wouldn't get up a boat ramp. I feel fairly confident it would do OK as first gear is a fairly low ratio... I would expect to spin the wheels before running out of puff?

I sure would need to know more about this. I take mine up steep hills in snow and ice with no problems, and have the back really loaded up, and heavy coolers, gas and kerosene cans, 7 gallon water containers, etc.

He said he didn't spin the tires, so not sure traction was the issue.

I find myself doubting the OP on this.

I'm guessing you drive an auto. It's the safety clutch thing (whatever it's called) that prevents the gear from engaging if you're trying to overwork it. turn ESP to full off and engage 4x4 mode. If it still doesn't work, hold the brake, put it in neutral, give it some gas (about 3500 rpms) and then shift to drive while letting off the brake. May not be good for the transmission, but it'll get the wheels moving.

very weird. I tow a 1500lbs bass boat and have no issues with any boat ramps I use. I usually just lock 4x4 and I'm good. Never had a need to put the ESP full/partial off.

BTW, I have the 2.4L CVT

There is a thread on here somewhere that talks about this exact problem. To make a long story short all you have to do when this happens is turn the riot off then start it back up. this resets the computer and you should have your power back. The riot is rated to 1500lbs without a tow package so it should pull your jet ski no problem. There is one guy on here pulling a large boat (scary) you just have to dig in the archives. I have had this happen while out on a camping trip way back in the mountains hauling my lightweight camp trailer (<1000lbs). I was glad I had read about it prior because there I was in a full on panic attack as I sat in the middle of a long steep dirt single lane hill with a trailer ahhhhh, until I remembered reading the article here in the forum (thank you jeeppatriot.com). I don't know what causes it, I don't know why it has to be reset I just know when you are in a situation that the computer deems unsafe and cuts everything to protect itself that's what you have to do. it seems to happen on steep grades while pulling a trailer I have noticed. I hate it and have wanted to swap the riot because of it but there are a lot of plusses I would have to give up and a big one is 23mpg every day, that and ITS A JEEP! Hope this helps.

We pull a 750 lb aluminum fishing boat with our Patriot. No problem on the boat ramp. Biggest complaint would be rear viability while backing the boat due to the head rests on the rear seats. Leaves some blind spots.

found one of the threads i will keep looking for the other one. look at this thread
: Stuck on a hill with trailer!
