hey there i have a 2008 patriot and im looking at adding a cb radio. i was thinking that i could fit it into the slot below the radio. has anyone removed this part and if so do you have pictures. and how difficult was it to remove.
also any suggestions on what cb radio is best? and will they fit into that slot?

thanks for your help

i havent removed console,
but in the spot i noticed it gets very hot, would be careful installing electronics there,
i had a hard time finding location for my CB
so i went with a unit that has all the functions on the mic,
like this

I do like that radio, thank you Terasec! It has weather radio channels too. I think having a NOAA radio is important if out in the wilds.

was worked great for me,
excuse the lousy quality of the pics
have gone through a few of the smaller boxed cb's,
and they never last, antenae connection tend to be most common,
yet this cb has held up better than any of my previous cb's

One option would be to find a single-DIN CB and a single-DIN headunit and stack them. I have a friend that did it in his Subaru, it turned out really nice.

Since I use my CB very rarely, I opted for the temporary install. I used some of the 3M dual-lock fastener (Radioshack sells it in the states, not sure if the source would carry it) and a 12V plug with banana posts on it. For an antenna, I use a mag-mount 'Lil' Wil'. The whole thing can be removed and fits nicely in my spare tire well.

If it was something I used more, I would opt for the Cobra with the controls on the microphone and a firestik mounted to the liftgate.

someone around here posted a thread with a cb mounted above the rear view mirror ,actually over the front lamp.
there seems to be a space there.not sure about the size of the cb he fitted there, that can be an issue.
he posted pics and it looked awsome, quite "factory-like".
try to find that thread.
