I don't know about the wrangler owners. All I have met loved my jeep

Count me as being a happy camper. I don't understand the complaints from some folks about the poor acceleration, though. Mine really can move along nicely, it's not a vette, but it has plenty of snap if i want to move it. No complaints on getting up to speed on the throughway, on the ramp hit the throttle and enter traffic doing 70 mph. What's wrong with this?

This is a difficult question for me. While I have always had a relatively "decent" net worth and liquid assets, since the acquisition of the Patriot, my liquid assets (and thus total net worth) has multiplied, several times over. I originally got the Patriot as a temporary vehicle, to last 2-4 years while I accomplished some set goals. It was the best of the lower priced vehicles, that I actually thought looked decent in STOCK form -- although I ended up paying $10,000 more than I planned when I went to the dealer. Initially, I wanted an absolutely bottom level model with no features.

In any event, with my current situation, I've started looking at it differently. I'm trying my best to hold on to it since any upgrade I do would be an UPGRADE and would result in me spending in the $50,000 or up range. But, I just haven't liked it as much as I originally did. I'm starting my mods to it and hope that keeps me in love.

Overall, I'd say it's a 4. I won't give it a 5 because I do hate how the vehicle looks from the side. The bumpers were designed to have an "approach angle" to go up and down hills, which I understand, but it makes the vehicle look weird. And, since there are NO aftermarket body kits to correct this, I hate it. Other than that, my features (4x4 Latitude) fit the bill, and I get compliments on it (I pamper the hell out of it).

I would say 5. Having owned a both a pick up truck and a car. I feel the Jeep Patriot is the best of both worlds. I will never own anything but a Jeep as far as I'm concerned. The riding height is perfect, the riding comfort is perfect, and it's so much fun to drive.

I'm stuck between a 3 & 4.

Pro's
Looks great
Comfrotable to drive
Great fuel economy from the diesel (6.3l/100km)
Decent bottom end Torque
Can fit all my junk in it whenever i need to.
Lockable 4x4 feature

Cons
Not a 'true' 4x4
Its a slug
Parts/services can be a lil preicey depending what it is

Other than that its been a pretty smooth ride in our nearly 12 month relationship! I know its no speed demon & i bought it knowing that very much, but there are times a wish i still had my 12 second pulsar to let loose onto the freeway :)
Looking forward to taking it on a beach run over the easter/ANZAC day holiday to see how it fares at last!
But great car. Gets me from A to B. Everything works & it looks good! :)

Also between 3 & 4. The ball joint failure at 36K and the electrical system issue at 40K took it down from a 4. Maybe it'll last, maybe it won't. I just can't trust it anymore. I moved into the 21st century and now have a cell phone and road service. Would I get another one? I don't think so. 60% dealer/service fault, 40% car's fault.

Im about on the same page with most of you. I'd give it a 4. I haven't had any problems with it yet (knock on wood). It has lots of interior room and looks like a true jeep from the outside. I love jeeps, both my mom and my brother have grand cherokee's. From what i have read it sounds like jeep could have given the patriot more off-road capabilities. It seems to do okay in the FD2 setup (i have an FD1).

I noticed this yesterday when i nudged a down tree backing up. It needs bigger windows all around. The visibility is the worse I've ever seen in any car. If they just made each window maybe an inch taller, it would be a lot better. I guess it can also be seen as a safety issue. Also those thick columns for supporting the roof decrease visibility going around turns and backing up.

try sitting in the new camaro. That thing needs 360 degree cameras or something. Love it and it looks cool, but bad sight lines.

I think the patriot has pretty decent sight lines. Looking over your drivers side shoulder doesn't offer the best view, but you adjust your mirrors to show the angles you cant see... that's what they're there for.

Rating: 2

Why:
1. Its not a pickup.
2. It has only slightly more power and off-road capability than my kid's electric Gator ride-on toy.
3. It leaks like a screen door.
4. Its not a pickup.

LOL... so why didn't you buy a pickup? How many people on this thread are going to give the pat a bad rating because THEY CHOSE the wrong vehicle?

Leaking is an understandable issue.

I'll agree, I miss having my pickup truck. Know what I did? Went and got a small utility trailer. I can throw anything I want in the back of that thing and it works about as well (sometimes better) than my Ranger.

Wow nothing like resurrecting a thread. I had a newer Impala to use while my Compass was being fixed. That car shook and rattled like it was built 20 years ago. I get back in my Compass and I could notice the build quality that I missed. The MKs are solidly built reasonably priced and hard to beat. The next C class Jeep will have to exceed that level or probably will look like a failure in my opinion.

I love it. Probably a 4+ on your scale.

I like technology, and would have a appreciated a little more in the pat. That, a touch better MPG and some more power and I'd probably stick around for round two.

This is why I'm thinking of the v6 Cherokee as my next vehicle, or I may even splurge with the GC.

Rating of 5 for the first 7 years. Smooth engine with the 5 speed. Flawless daily commuter. And good in the snow for a 4x2.

Rating of 2 for the past year due to common patriot repairs. New front ball joints and then the entire intake manifold. Because these problems are so common in the 07, FCA should issue a recalls for both issues. If they did and took care of me, I would rate 5 overall.

My pat 2010 north. Trail rated! As 73 500 aprox cadn km!!!

And will be 6 years this months!

It those everything i need it to do for my needs! I did pulls my trailer with 6 kayaks for about 250 trips or so! Was realy busy the first 4 years of it!

But do have to say,,,,did put a lot of parts in it, bald joint tie rods,,etc...

But nothing yet for the motor/tranny....

So good on gas,,,but could be better
Anaugh space inside
Towing is ok due that its a trail rated

I would like 3 inch higher
More riliable

If i would have not so many little prob i would keep that truck few more years! But now i got my starthing probleme,,will see....
