60K mile update: 2011 4X4 2.4 5M LAT All Weather Tow Prep

Greetings from the North East Sierra!

I have been looking into CSUVs for about a year and made up my mind today. My wife and I test drove 2011 Patriots, with both the CVT and the 5 speed manual. The manual was a better match for the engine.

We contacted our lender this evening and were pre-approved at 1.99% financing for the cost of the vehicle.

Tomorrow the order will be placed for a 2011 Patriot Latitude 4X4, 2.4L, 5-speed manual, Mineral Gray Metallic, Dark Slate Gray, w/ All Weather Capability Group and Trailer Tow Prep Group.

MSRP: 22,500
Invoice: 21,901
Final Cost: 24,089
Rebates: 2,000
Out the Door: 22,089

The vehicle "should" arrive in about 45 days.

More to follow,

Murman

...just like mine, but my wife wanted black, with the pebble beige interior.
... I hope "she" has fun keeping it clean. My T/A is black and requires some TLC to keep her spiffy. I hope the Mineral Gray is less labor intensive.

The build order is in!

I just got word that the dealer entered the order for the Patriot! :pepper:

Now, the wait begins...

I am unable to find a picture of a Patriot in Mineral Gray. We selected the color after looking a it on a GC.

I think the photo of the GC remindes me most of the paint on the GC I saw yesterday. It was parked, door to door, with other GCs. The hood was picking up lots of light and blue from the high desert sky. The front bumper paint, with less reflection, was darker. It was a good fit between the Silver and Charcoal Gray.

I believe that the black trim, silver wheels, tinted glass, slate interior, chrome lettering and mineral Gray paint, will make a nice monochromatic color scheme.

I bought a 4x4 with the 5-speed manual in 2008. Wonderful vehicle.

My only complaint is that it needs a six speed Manual with a low-low gear and a heftier clutch. Off-road, the driver has to use the clutch way too much when the going gets rough.

When I haul my boat up a steep ramp, the stock clutch can "burn" some and smell terrible.

Ordered mine in MG on Feb 27...am glad that you got this picture posted....it is the long wait....very painful:D
I hope to find more!

I can see a class action lawsuit for mental anguish (the sustained dull painful emotion of having a Patriot on order)...

Fooling the TPMS...

I live at 5,000 feet elevation in the Northeast Sierra Mountain range, two miles up a 5% grade. We get snow and ice and it can stay around for a few weeks. I do have a tractor with a front mounted snow thrower to clear the driveway and access roads on the property. I drive 54 miles round trip to work. I leave at 0545 and get to work at 0630. Often, I am on the road before the road maintenance trucks.

Part of the way of life here is to have a set of studded snow tires mounted on an set of wheels. Come first snow they go on, and stay on until late March. Having tires swapped on one set of wheels costs about $120 a year, 60 bucks a shot, two times a year.

The trucks do not have the TPMS...

The PAT will...

I do not want to invest in TPMS sensors on the snow tires for the PAT. There must be a signal line that can be tied to ground or 12 volts to fool the TPMS system into thinking all is well. I have done several searches without finding an answer... Does one exist?

This just in from the dealership... "Your Patriot is scheduled to be shipped on or about the 21st of March. If all goes well you should see your Patriot the first week or two in April." :beerchug:
