I know this has been discussed ad nauseum, but I thought I'd give an update to my experience. I bought my Patriot about 6-7 weeks ago. It's a 2011 Latitude 4x2. Here are my mileage observations thus far.

First tank - a little over 21 mpg
Second tank - around 22
Third - over 23
Fourth - well over 24

I filled up again today and checked the mileage and I got over 25 mpg. I have just over 1700 miles on the odometer.

Mine has been dissapointing. 4x4 Lattitude 2011. But we have Ethenol mixed in for the winter. My first 4 tanks were about 20. I expected a little better, I have about 1200 miles already. But I must say, it's been cold and snowy here, so when that all stops, it should get better.

Igloo vs Palm trees

PatriotDaryl... I got over 25 mpg..
Heyspike...My first 4 tanks were about 20. I expected a little better,
Don't feel bad Heyspike. PatriotDaryl's gets superb mpg in the palm tree belt. While our Riots muck around igloo country with gaz padded with wimpy ethanol.

Next Fall you may wish to consider a DIY radiator blocker mod; it could retain at least another extra 5 C deg (9 F) under the hood: This helps with the winter mpg and cabin heater.

We northern guys grew up with ice: hockey, ice fishing etc. The palm tree guys know squat about ice, except in their drinks. LOL

I'm in the Seattle area, so winter isn't really that cold out here. (to date a grand total of 4 days that actually had snow stick to the ground/roads) Unfortunately, my mileage is still not even close to the sticker estimates... I'm getting just over 19mpg combined. (about 70%/30% stop & go/highway) I've heard some people saying that around the first oil change at 3000 miles, mileage is supposed to improve. I'm hoping this will improve, since that's one of the reasons I went with a Patriot over other vehicles. I'm a little dismayed, since my past vehicles I've usually gotten the same or better than the advertised mileage estimates.

Now, now, I know plenty about cold weather. We moved to Florida from Wichita, Kansas. We had plenty of single digit days and plenty of snow there. In fact, I drove a Jeep Wrangler X up there. Mine was an 03, which was when Jeep still put the 4.0L inline 6 in them. I loved that engine. It is true we don't have the nasty weather here, but our temps surprise most tourists. We have plenty of days where the overnight low is in the 20s. Brrrr. :)

I live in Seattle, where winter temperatures rarely drop below the 40's, and we only see snow maybe 5 days out of the year on average. Despite this, I'm only averaging about 19 mpg combined on my Patriot, which is a bit of a bummer, not gonna lie. (About 30% highway, 70% stop & go) I've only got a little under 1300 miles on it, and I've heard some people say that it isn't until 3000 miles that the mileage improves. -Hopefully that's the case, since the fuel mileage was a bit of a driving factor in my decision to buy a Patriot.

I've also heard the computer is "learning" your driving style, which can make for some difference in efficiency, as well as individuals need to "learn to drive a CVT"... just curious if anyone could explain a little further the style of driving a CVT?

Me bum gets mighty toasty when the heated seat is engaged under me kilt. Aigh, I tell ya me lad, there's nothing worse than toasted boys. ;) Lol

I too have a Jeep Patriot Latitude 4x2. Mine has the 2.0L in it. I have been logging my mileage in fuelly, except 1 tank. Yesterday it broke the 26mpg mark. I hand calculate all my fill-ups. My Pat has 1749 miles on her. I am hopeful for better MPG as it breaks in more and I switch to a full synthetic. The hills around here do rob me of a little bit of fuel. All in all I am very pleased.

Looks like we have twin Patriots. Mine is white too and it also has around 1800 miles on it now.
