where should i begin?
i have a 2010 jeep patriot sport 2.4L and for the last 3 months i have had non stop suspension issues.

it all started around 16,000 miles when i noticed a strong pull to the left while driving at highway speeds as well as a popping noise coming from the front end while i was going over speed bumps. Confident that this was a ball joint i took it to a local dealership where they promptly looked into the issue and 2 days later my jeep was returned to me with (from what they told me) two new rear shocks, driver side ball joint, and front control arms (can't remember if they were upper or lower) and a promise that i would have no more problems with my jeep that i purchased just 4 months prior. (beyond irritated)

As i left the dealership something didn't feel right, however i decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and went on with my daily driving. I quickly realized that the problems were not solved and still doing the same thing and now i began to notice that there was an added and what i soon realized was an even more annoying problem. Now while driving my newly purchased Jeep felt like there were wooden wheels attached to it. More specifically i could now feel every bump or slight pavement change that i went over in the wheel, pedals, shift knob and generally throughout the entire car. Aggravated and even more annoyed I took my freshly serviced jeep, promise from the previous dealership in hand to a new dealership for a second opinion.

I had the worst dealership experience ever however. Long story short after 9 days of trying to find rides to work that was 50 miles away from my home and 3 phone calls finding out what was going on with my Jeep later, the dealership fessed up and told me that they couldn't find the work order that was typed up with the problem and could't remember what the problem was. Irate i re-explained the problem and a day later my jeep was returned with an explanation from the dealership that only an alignment was needed.

once again the problem has not been solved and they are progressively getting worse. i now have to crawl over speed bumps and every bump i drive over is felt throughout the vehicle. Along with this problem now while its wet or snowy outside the front end hops while trying to get traction. The car still pulls violently while driving at highway speeds 70+ MPH and i am about to drive it off the cliff because my waranty is up in 6,000 miles and no dealership is willing to put the time or effort into finding the root of these problems.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THEY ARE HAVING SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THEIR PATRIOTS, WHAT THEY ARE, AND HOW DO I GO ABOUT EITHER FIXING THEM MYSELF OR GETTING THE DEALERSHIP TO BELIEVE I'M NOT CRAZY WHILE DESCRIBING THEM FOR THE 3RD TIME. any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Eric.

never heard of anything like this, but it sounds like bad alignment, due to,probably, bad ball joints that might have damaged something else as well.
try another dealer because this one seems a problematic one if they are incapable of solving it.
that's what i would do,and if still doesn't work i would address chrysler.
i am surprised of many dealer's conduct in the us, i read a lot of stories of people having trouble with them, warranty or not.
i live in romania and summertime till late fall in greece.
i never had a problem with a dealer in either country.
especially the one i go to in romania is superb.
very nice and friendly people and goog quality work.
so,try another dealer.
it can't be something very bad, just they are incompetent.
good luck!

Maybe some more info would help... Is there a sound relative to how fast your going? Is the sound/vibration/"wooden Wheels" a constant thing, or does it only happen when you go over small bumps and pavement changes? You say that it pulls to the left, when you curve right in the road, does the problem worsen or exaggerate? Or when you curve left does it releve the problem? If these are the case, i would guess its your front left wheel baring. Is there anything else you could tell us?

the "wooden wheels" issue is consistent. even on smooth roads i can still feel the most minor imperfection i drive over. as for pulling to the left, all of my tires are inflated to the proper PSI (35lbs i believe) and i only really notice it when i'm going straight and let go of the wheel, in a fraction of a second its got me pointing at the guardrail. i questioned the wheel bearings initially because there is almost a grinding noise that i can hear while driving at lower spead but i just equated that to road noise.

Wheel bearing in these do not sound like the old ones, which would sort of squeal, and more pronounced in turns. These ones, at least to me, sound like really rough off road tires, when they go bad.

Sounds to me like you have several issues at the same time. And it does sound like you need an alignment, based on the pulling, unless that's the wheel with the bad bearing pulling you.

You need to find a better service shop. And call your Chrysler dealer rep in the area, you'll have to get their number from your dealer.

They should have given you a loaner too, while they had your Patriot.

I recommend you call Chrysler now and get this on record, since with your 50 mile commute, you are rushing up on the end of your warrantee. Ask them to tell you which dealership will fix the problem and ask them to supervise getting your/their problem solved.

I think the OP is making it up. Sorry, it all sounds ridiculous. Any dealership would not let you drive away still with those outlandish problems you have described. You got all those parts changed and that solved nothing and the dealership didn't test drive it and notice it and they lost not only the printed paperwork but the computer softcopy? Liar.

That was the first thing I was going to say is check the wheel pressure, sounds like it's really high if you feel and hear all the small bumps in the road.
If you don't rotate your tires regularily, they will wear unevenly and can cause the pulling to one side as well.

What would be the point of him lying? He is obviously reaching out to fellow patriot owners to find a solution. We all know dealerships can be crappy at times. A tech could be having a bad day and just really not care or maybe the manager has just about everyone working there hating there job. Whatever it is I'm sure he would have no reason to lie on this forum.

LOL ok i worked at a dealership and totally believe him... Backstory for me... had shaking in my steering of my TJ, I took it in to have it aligned, no big deal right? Well they told me it wasnt the alignment, and it was something else. Trusting them, they adjusted my steering box and added a new stabilizer. Well i drove it and it ended up being far worse (it was the adjustment). I asked for the sheet from the alignment to see for myself what calibration it had, only to find out they never did the alignment in the first place. They thought they knew more, and could get me to pay cash to make it worse.

In the end, I made them do the alignment, didnt pay for the other service, and it went away for the most part... after i changed out my steering linkage, it totally went away.

Oh and the dealership i took it to is now closed...

Elly, dealerships can be very crooked... Mine would do shotty repairs of broken (usually used)cars (not even sold yet) and then, sold them... I have a million storys of stupid crap that happened... I don't trust them for S**T

So for the record, yes i was given parts that didnt fix the issue AND they never drove it AND they didnt have a print out of my original request...

what was your previous vehicle? I came from an S10 Jimmy which plowed over speed bumps and was smooth as a couch on the road compared to the Patriot. Took me some time to get used to it.

My advice would get a Lemon law attorney in your state. If you have 3 or 4 work invoices from dealer trying to solve your problem but you still having problems. I had a 2007 300 i bought in may 2007 and i had problems with it been in shop 7 or 8 times trying to fix several problems.. In July I hired attorney.Last day in dec 2007 i turned the car in ..It had 27000 miles and they gave me full sticker price credit and exchange for the suv im driving now 2008 Jeep Patriot...The 300 was a base model i paid 24800 for it and i got this jeep patriot that had every option FOR STICKER PRICE 25200..Only deal was i had to Pay the 400.00 difference and my financial contract stayed the same.

I have a 2015 patriot and my suspension issues are never ending. As soon as I hear something o take it in when I get my oil change done and they fix it. 2-3 days later theirs a new noise… people say that this is how all keeps are but I really hope not because this is insane I want a new jeep but I don’t want all these issues

Welcome to the group. Sorry to hear about your issues. I've got a '14 Patriot since '16, and the only suspension issues I've had so far have been 1 wheel bearing, one ball joint, and 1 set of squeaky sway bar bushings. If you're having ongoing issues, that's definitely not normal. However, some suspension noise is normal for Patriots. Squeaks, groans, little rattles are nothing to worry about or throw $$ at. If you're going to have every little noise checked out, you're going to make yourself miserable and your mechanic very happy.

I have a 2009 4x4 patriot . Just found out I need a sub frame .blew out 2 back tires and it came quick .. it runs good but I dont know if it's worth saving with them miles on it ..

I'm with you on my 2015. Ever since I hit 100k, i've been chasing a problem.
that very same issue with my 2012 jeep patriot front wheel drive 2.4 L engine. When I bought the vehicle from the dealership it ran great and smooth and I didn't find out till after I signed the papers and two months had gone by that the drive axle up front had been replaced for the same issues that I was currently starting to feel and that progressively got worse. Come to find out after the fourth time of taking the vehicle in to have them look at it again they found that the new axle they put in the clip that joins the two sides of the axle had wallered loose I guess the metal alloy but they used to make that clip was not of a sufficient tensile strength enough to withstand the torque and pressures needed to hold the two shafts together. After finding that out and having the dealer put another one in the problems inside it went went away all together I did have to get an alignment after that however for four or five more months it was great and then it started again now I'm going on the second round of dealing with the issues and I've thrown a control arm ball joints in the works into the mix I'm thinking it's a design flaw with Patriots and the frame specifically where the control arm and the center axis frame join it seems to be that the issue is with those joints being on pivoting compression bushings. I think the angle of the mount on which the bushing rest to the Mainframe is off by a couple degrees from that which the fourth exerted from the rest of the suspension system joins to the center frame. I could be wrong but I have studied many many charts and looked at many different diagrams and it just seems to me that with all the issues common throughout that that would be the most prominent one.
