Well it sounds like too much air is getting under the hood with no quick way to escape. Someone should remove the rubber gasket at the rear of the hood and windshied cowl and see if that allows the air to pass thru without "pressurizing" underhood area.

Do the Patriots come with an engine skid? If not, adding a skid for protection AND aerodynamics might help keep excess air from the engine compartment.

Just some thoughts:doh:

My 07 has the 1/2" play in the rear of the hood if you lift it up by the back corner.

Did a little trip in to Edmonton this past weekend. I didn't notice the back corner lift at all, but I was on 4 lane highway the whole way. It was really windy in spots and I was travelling around 120 km's with no lift. I pretty much watched the whole trip to see if the back corner lifted, but it did not.

That being said, I think this is something that Jeep will have to find a fix for, real fast.

I have noticed at the drive through car wash the hood will kind of vibrate when you drive through the drying fans at the end of the wash. Bit of a ripple effect from front to rear in the middle of the hood.

They got me there ! Would be nice to have some chrome ones machined or maybe reading this thread they will produce real ones.

Bumping this thread and adding a little update. 2 sets of emails sent to Chrysler, and no responses from any of them.

Hello...? Chrysler...? Anyone home...?

Hey.. c'mon.

They issued a TSB to fix the rattling license plate with foam pieces.
They're looking out for us!

:banana:

I'm talking about taking the idea and making real ones (would be a nice option) and it would lower the air uplift of the hood

Built/purchased 1st week in June. I'm missing passenger foam under hood rear location. I have the FDII.
Funny thing, I noticed that there was a piece of foam under the hood rear location on the drivers side that was not on in the same place on the passenger side . . . I stopped at a random dealer and checked under the hood on a Patriot in the show room, no Compass was on the the floor, and it too was missing this piece of foam, the sales man :icon_rolleyes:eek:n the floor told me "becase this was the same as on my Compass that this is the way it must be.":doh:
BUT I WONDER?:confused::confused:

Hunter, I felt around my dealer's lot the other day, litterally, and they had four 08's and no 07's. I tried the hoods and they all seemed to be quite tight, I'm wondering if the problem has been corrected on the 08's, and if so, if there isn't some kind of TSB out for the hoods of the 07's. Have you checked lately with your dealer?

Took my 08 up to 70mph and noticed a lot of hood vibration. I noticed that cross wind made it worse... even at much lower speeds. This is not normal and I have never seen an undamaged hood vibrate even close to this bad. I would be surprised if Jeep does not create a fix.
