08 Patriot Sport. Ever since I bought the car I've been getting about 310 miles to a full tank of gas. IDK if thats even good or not, now lately (maybe because of the cold) I've been getting only 245 miles to a full tank...Im thinking about replacing the fuel filter to see if it helps...Any other suggestions?

BTW My Jeep has about 57,000 miles, and I drive in the city and highway...lately it's been highway miles, thats what I dont get is how my MPG's decreased so greatly.

Thanks.

last winter i averaged about 24mpg.
245 miles to a tank seems low, but it's hard to judge "a tank", sometimes when you fill up the pump shuts off early and your tank isn't actually full (my wife is famous at this)

if you really want to know what mileage your getting you need to fill up, note your mileage, run till the needle hits E, fill up again, note how many gallons it took to fill up and note how many miles you went on theat tank of gas, then do the math.

Might be the winter fuel blend that is decreasing your fuel economy. That is classic.

I just did my first gas mileage check on the 2011. Right now I'm sittin at about 22mpg (city). I attribute this to me getting used to my CVT, and expect it to increase once I get the hang of it. I was averaging 23-24 city, and 29-30 highway in my 08 5 speed.

OMG! - I didn't realize you went from a 5 speed to a CVT! I couldn't do it. We are looking for a replacement for our smashed 2010 right now and that is one thing i HAVE to HAVE. 5 speed manual.

How are you getting used to it? Is it bothering you in any way?

It feels sluggish under normal driving conditions. Don't get me wrong, when you floor it the thing takes off like a rocket! I do find it jerky sometimes during city driving. I've been driving manuals as long as I've been driving. I shift way smoother than the CVT does. I do feel like I've lost a great deal of control in the turns too. Overall, having owned both now, id have to say I definitely thing the Patriots lack of power due to its weight is made up for to some extent by the manuals better acceleration. I find that the CVT makes it feel like its falling on its face. I bought the 08 I had specifically because it was a 5 speed, and I switched to the CVT this time due to blowing out my knee over the summer and having an increasingly hard time with the clutch. So, in order to keep driving, I had to make the sacrifice.

ok there you go i got a 2010 pat off road edition and i never make more then 400km wit a gas off tank........you think your bad..mine is very bad.

i got 10 000km on it..so this is only 6 g miles. on it.

not sher if its the off road edition that makes it that bad or what,.

It most certainly is the cold weather. The Pat's computer agressively richens the fuel mixture when it gets cold out.

WHat does your temp guage get to the middle, based on my scanguage normal operation in the summer (above 0c) just a hair below 1/2 is 90c.

In the fall/winter months, i used to hardly get 1/2 way to the half way mark on the guage.

What i did was use cardboard and cover up the radiator and I can nearly get back to normal operating temperatures unless its REAL cold.

Not sure why the pat is so agressive in its fuel mixture in the winter, but its the first vehicle i've owned where there was a noticable decrease in fuel economy in the winter.

I get about 24 mpg avg, over 1 1/2 yrs owning the Pat. That makes it @ 312 miles per tank. I have noticed some drop in mpg in winter. I would think this is due to more rolling resistance in the tires and running gear and longer time sitting in the drive warming up the engine.
