Finally got my Rola Roof Rack installed and couldn't be happier with it, my Patriot is officially taller than me & really looking the part.

Looks good. I thought of getting one but it just didn't make sense since I find it useless compare to a roof cargo box. My point was to carry some stuff (and have it protected). but it definitively looks good. It would look better with a lift though. That way, the Pat doesn't look squashed.

Tell us more about that basket, please. How much? How hard to install? All one piece? Did it come with the air deflector in front? Did you need cross bars, and if so which ones did you use?

Ordered the rack from etrailer.com for $179 with free shipping. Researched a lot of racks before deciding on the Rola, many looked a bit tame compared to the Rola which has a more beefy appearance and nice solid set of brackets to attach with. The Rola has one of the best length to width ratio's - basically takes up the entire length of the roof rails and sits just inside the rails width-wise. It comes in 2 pieces and goes together in about 5 mins - seal the joints with RTV black silicone and it should be worry free. The air deflector is included and a must to keep the noise down at highway speeds, all in all a very solid rack for the money.

The Rola requires cross bars so after a quick ebay search I purchased the OEM cross bars from a dealership surplus - cost $120, attached to the jeep in about 5 mins.

Here's a recent pic with my Warn fogs attached which are about to be swapped out for 2 PIAA 540's.

For anyone in Ontario looking to get one, I surprisingly got it for $175 right here in Mississauga around June. www.cobra1.com

It is a solid rack and have had a chance to test it thoroughly a few times. Picked up my Cragar rims and Grabber tires in the States and loaded them on no problems. Had quite a bit of deck lumber loaded another time, so very versatile. I carry a thule quest cargo bag which fits within the carrier for those wet occasions.

Thanks for the answers! It's a nice basket, I've been looking at one from Cabelas, very similar to this one.

Cobretty, tell me more about the Thule quest cargo bag, please.

Dixiedawg,

I got it on sale for $40 and as I said fits great. Waterproof, spacious, good quality and folds in a bag for easy travel.

PIAA 540's

Installed the PIAA 540's with light locks - at 5 inch's they're a great size for the rack.

Swift, the basket looks great, but I'm worried about the back end interfering with my two antennas clamped to the rails. If you get a chance, would you mind taking a picture from the back end of your Pat, showing how much overhang you have with the Rola, over the rails?

Thanks!
