Get the K&N cold air intake.. Boost your hp by 7-8hp and its like $300
I got mine off e-bay brand new for $196.00 Was a good deal that i could not pass up on. I have run K&N's on my cars since 95 and would not think of using anyone else.

Slaterracer, where did you buy the k&N for $196 shipped . I need to order one for my 2010 Patriot 2.4 with 5 speed also. is there a web site or phone number thanks. I realized you mention ebay but there should be a phone number to order directly.

Slaterracing, Thanks , I guess I missed that one . But found another on Ebay with free shipping for $215.37 . Just bought it and paid for it and will get it in 3 to 5 days. Can't wait to hear that motor roar.:smiley_thumbs_up:
Will give you a tip to installing it. Take the battery out after you take the air box and intake tube out. Will make it much easier to get to the throttle body when reinstalling the k&N intake tube. The instructions do not tell you to do that and i did not but can tell after i would have been alot better. also do it when the motor is cold as the upper radiator hose is right there and will burn the crap out of you if it is hot . and good luck shoot some pics when you are done.

Slaterracing, just saw and heared your You Tube on your new muffler sounds awesome. I was going to do the Flowmaster as all my other vehicles have , but I think that after a while they get louder with time. So I am going with the TRUSH ( spelling) muffler , but I need the model number and pipe size in and out. Also the model number on the tip. thanks Bob.

I and planning on doing single inlet and having a double outlet and have 2 chrome tips one behind rear bumper on passenger side and one behind the drivers side rear bumper , to make it look like it had a big hemi up front HAHAHA.
I see that trush have a single and dual outlet but I only saw it to be the round red muffler GLASSPACK then have to run the new muffler under the passenger flloor area and then run 2 pipe all the way back . Too much weight, rather get a system to have to built like yours but with a dual outlet and let the muffler shop make me 2 pipes . Sorry to big right up but I am real excited on your sound , we have the same car just mine is silver 2010 jeep patriot 2.4 with 5 speed and some time this weekend I will be installing the K&N CAI 63-1552 with heat sheild.:pepper:
I did the painted black muffler but when I install this new K&N CAI , i know it will be time to toss this cheap muffler after i saw your post when you cut it open and WOW what a piece of S..T full of material baffles. No wonder after 300 miles that the muffler start to rust under neath at the 3 bolts. and where the end pipe welded to muffler is rusted. Very cheap.

Here is the muffler that i go http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WLK-17655/ it is a thrush welded muffler 2.25 in and out with an offset in and center out pipe. The sound has not changed much on mine in 3K miles that i have had it on. Love the sound and love the look. Have had a couple people ask me about it in parking lots because they hate the look of the casket that is under there cars.

take some pics and show please

I live in California where we have to have aftermarket parts like the AEM intake CARB approved due to the smog laws. I put mine on almost three years ago before it was CARB approved. I used to call them on a weekly basis, waiting for my CARB sticker. It took about 8 months due to the fact they have to go through the Government of CA. They do make other Air Intakes for many Vehicles that do come with a Heatshield, like they said due to where the filter is, there is plenty of air due to the opening where the filter is located. There is an Air intake called the WeaponR but it is not CARB approved. Nice here in California where the CA. Air Resources Board runs the show, otherwise I could use another intake or make my own. I did put the WeaponR Filter on my AEM as the WeaponR fiter has an open end and my be better than the AEM filter. You can also hook a Ram Air Kit to the Weapon R Filter if you want to get more air from the outside of your Patriot. THE K&N AIR INTAKE IS NOT CARB APPROVED IN CALIFORNIA FOR THE JEEP PATRIOT I agree there should be a Heatshield

I'm a big fan of the K&N drop in filter. Same material, so similar air flow. And the factory provided a cold air intake stock when you bought the car. And, considering the above, drop in is out of sight out of mind.

My honest opinion is the difference in air flow gains between the cone filter and drop in is minimal if any. So except for the bling factor, why spend the extra money?

^^^^ Exactly why I plan on sticking with my K&N drop in filter for a long time. Seems like the factory put together a nice looking cold air inlet right under the hood behind the grille. Hopefully I won't be tempted to tinker with it any further.

Looks good VJIZZY! I'm sure it sounds even better.

Im considering buying the K&N intake but would it affect the computer in any way or bring up some weird code? Would I have to re-program the ECM?
