Anyboy know what the Patriot exhaust system is made of? Stainless steel? My Wrangler's exhaust system is 7 years old and still is in great shape, and I hope the Patriot system is just as durable.

In my experience non stainless steel's life is directly related to the amount of heat generated by the length of time the engine is running and generating heat. My neighbour and I bought new Accord's at the same time. He drove approx. 4 miles to work five days a week. My trips were usually 50 miles or longer and maybe a 6 mile trip once a week. After three years and 65000 miles the exhaust system on my car was still OK, whereas my neighbour had to change his after 10000 miles.

I'm just re-visiting this thread that I started awhile back. I never did verify the type of steel used - the magnet idea sounds like a pretty good one. My (anecdotal only) experience was that Jeep exhaust systems last a pretty long time.
I suspect that lots of short trips (like 4 miles a couple times a day) are really hard on exhaust parts as there may not be enough run-time every trip to purge the system of moisture.
